Our 7 month long nightmare came to an end on Saturday as we closed the door of our new, rebuilt Sedona home and returned to California. Our Sedona home was destroyed when our maid turned on the upstairs bath tub and left the house. We have dealt with insurance companies, contractors, and numerous other vendors ever since then in an effort to restore our beautiful home. Thanks to Rod Stevens of ABC Restoration in Prescott, our General Contractor, and his professional team, for their relentless hard work in putting the house back together and making it better than the original. Thanks to our Project Manager, Gina Hull, for providing oversight of the project when we had to be in California. Thanks to Cody of First Response Movers for moving everything out of the house with only one day’s notice, and nothing was damaged. Thanks to Merit Movers of Prescott for returning our belongings, carrying everything up the steep driveway in the heat of the day. And special thanks to Flo for her artistic vision of a new, improved Sedona home and her dogged persistence in making things happen. Sal Goldman, her first boss at the Chrysler building in Manhattan, taught her well. Everything is negotiable and don’t take no for an answer. 😃 The new property managers are taking pictures today and the house will be available for vacation rental soon. I will post the pictures when they arrive.

Photos from SD Safari Park taken on July 28th. The Gorillas seem to be still grieving for the loss of Winston, the 52 year old Silverback who died on July 13th.

I'm in Sedona this week dealing with the severe damage our beautiful home suffered last week. Flo and I are very sad, but the plans for rebuilding are already in place and the house will be better than ever. In the meantime, I was reminded that life goes on when I looked at Cathedral Rock still standing and unchanging.

Also, on the drive to town this morning from my hotel I saw one of the most awesome sights I've ever seen. Beautiful hot air balloons everywhere. One of the balloons passed over my truck so close I could see the passengers' smiling faces. Unfortunately, I couldn't safely pull over to get any photos but my dash cam should have recorded the experience, so I'll be downloading the video later.

When life leaves you in terrible despair sights like these photos depict remind me that there is a God!
