I thought the excitement of becoming a mom already ran deep and then I spent the evening with the sweetest little family and somehow it grew even more.

The Mauch family has their hands full in the very best way. The second Maverick’s little feet hit the ground, he was off and running keeping us laughing the entire session while showing off his wild, adventurous little personality. Muddy feet, sandy pants, a surprise trip into the lake. Honestly, childhood in its purest form.

Baby boy number two is already so loved, and I already know Mr. Mav is going to have the most fun teaching his little brother how to run fast, play hard, and come home covered in dirt by the end of the day.

This morning we stood where we once sat on this sand dune above the lake where the sun first rose on us before we even knew what we’d become. Back then, it was just a second date. A slow morning. Two people letting time stretch instead of chasing it. Now here we are less than a year later waiting for a life we made together.

If I could I used to fill my days to the brim. Shoot after shoot, always moving, always reaching for something just ahead of me. But the day we met over coffee something softened in me even more than it already had. Time slowed its pace. And it slowed again that morning on the dune. And it’s been slowing ever since with every quiet moment of this little life growing inside me.

Like my has soul finally caught up to what my prayers have been asking for all along. God has been whispering for years for me to slow down. Because the life I’d been longing for isn’t out there somewhere. It was already here.

There’s something about this season. About becoming a mother. About loving this deeply that feels like returning. Not becoming someone new but remembering who I’ve always been beneath the noise.

Coming home to myself.
Coming home to Him.

In all my years behind the lens watching life unfold for others this feels like the most sacred frame yet. The fullest. The softest. The most beautifully in focus.

It feels like it’s been longer than just three months since I’ve done a family session. Getting back behind my camera felt like a deep breath I didn’t realize I had been holding in. Being there to capture the moments I love most. Life as it is, soft and unfolding. Felt like coming home in a way.

What made it even more beautiful was stepping into the story of a new family and a tiny life that had only been in this world for a few weeks. And being pregnant while photographing a newborn session. There was something about it I still can’t quite put words to. Part of me wanted to blame the hormones, but honestly it telt deeper than that. It felt heavenly. Like getting a small glimpse into the quiet sacred beauty of what bringing life into this world really is.

A few weeks ago I stood in the Tetons for the very first time. What I didn’t know then was how much more would happen there.

These landscapes, now available as prints hold so much gratitude. For a year that’s grown my business and realigned my life. For being back home closer to family. For Branden, his heart, his sweet love and a proposal I’ll carry forever. For Baby Bo, arriving this May, already filling everything with meaning.
