If you had told me that Jiu Jitsu would become part of our lives, I’m not sure I would’ve believed you. But that all changed last July when we met Jiu Jitsu Jen.

Neely has poured her heart into Jiu Jitsu. Just three months in, she moved from the kids’ course to the adult course—which meant starting over from scratch.

As you progress, you’re rewarded with stripes on your belt. Because of the transition, Neely had to wait a long time to earn her first stripe. Over the past nine months, she’s gained confidence, patience, perseverance, and self-worth.

It’s been a week since you left, and I’m still trying to wrap my head around this...

Skelly, you were a phenomenal friend. At times, you saw talents and skills in me that I didn’t see in myself. You were encouraging, thoughtful, and genuinely kind. I’ll never forget the first time we hung out and instantly became friends, laughing at lonely Indy.

You left an impression on me that I will cherish and carry with me for the rest of my life. Thank you for the countless lunches, conversations, jokes, memories, advice, late-night movies that our wives didn’t want to see, and so much more.

I miss you friend.
