TODAY: PhotoDrive Route 66 OKC Metro Edition

We’re rolling out for an easy-going Route 66 adventure with friends, cameras, and plenty of photo stops along the way.

1:30 PM – Social time + arrivals
Meetup: Route 66 Park in Bethany
2:00 PM – Quick briefing + grab your easy-to-follow route flyer (packed with iconic metro stops)

From there, you can ride with the caravan or use the flyer as your own self-guided photo hunt as we head east toward Arcadia for dinner at The Chicken Shack —then we’ll wrap the day chasing that classic neon glow at Pops Soda Ranch.

Bring your favorite camera, comfy shoes, and that “let’s go see what we find” vibe. See you out on the Mother Road!

There’s something about Route 66 in the Oklahoma City metro that just hits different. It’s not one “place” — it’s a ribbon of stories stitched through neighborhoods, neon, bridge steel, diners, old alignments, and the kind of roadside icons that make you pull over even when you swear you...

PHOTODRIVE
Route 66 - OKC Metro Area

Sunday, March 1, 2026 at 2:00pm the Red Dirt Photographer Team is rolling out for an easy-going tour along historic Route 66 with our partner Bedford Camera & Video.

Start: Route 66 Park in Bethany
Finish: Chicken Shack in Arcadia for dinner + stories + swapping shots

At our 2:00 PM meetup briefing, we’ll hand out a Route Details sheet with the planned stops and timing for the PhotoDrive. You’re welcome to follow the schedule with the caravan, or use the stops as your own self-guided route to explore and shoot at your own pace. Either way, the goal is the same—get out, create, and enjoy Route 66—then meet back up at the Chicken Shack in Arcadia for dinner and a little photo talk to wrap up the day.

No pressure. No experience needed. Just good people, cool stops, and that “let’s go see what we find” Oklahoma energy. Bring your camera (or phone), comfy shoes, and a full tank — we’ll caravan, hop out for photos, and keep it fun.

Welcome to Red Dirt Photographers (RDP)

We’re a crew of friends and image creators who love Oklahoma—its back roads, small towns, big skies, hidden corners, and the stories that still live out there if you slow down long enough to see them.

This page is our home base for:

- Photo walks + meetups
- Road trips + local adventures
- Workshops, tips, and creative prompts
- Sharing your work and cheering each other on

Whether you shoot Fuji, Sony, Canon, Nikon, film, or phone… if you love making images and you’ve got a soft spot for Oklahoma, you’re in the right place.

Say hey in the comments:

1. Where are you shooting from (city/state)?
2. What do you love photographing most?
3. Drop a recent favorite image (or your IG link)!

Let’s go find something worth remembering.

*Ken and Cray are missing from this capture, but we are planning events in 2026 and will grab some images of the CORE Team*
