LIFE UPDATE!

Okay, we're getting close.
My due date is September 28, but we're planning on being induced around September 21.

So I'm planning to start maternity leave September 18.
Which means there's a very real chance that one day I'll be answering photography emails and the next I'll be holding a newborn. 😂

I won't completely disappear, but I am going to give myself permission to slow down and enjoy those first few weeks with our newest little person.

I'll be back around October 12 and will still be booking future sessions while I'm away.

So if you've been thinking about fall pictures, senior pictures, Christmas cards, etc…now is a pretty good time to reach out!

When a bride sends me Pinterest inspiration, I am HERE FOR IT.

I love seeing what you're drawn to and what you envision for your session.
But then we take those ideas and make them yours.
Because your engagement photos shouldn't just look like something you saved on Pinterest. They should look like you two.

I know it's only September.
I KNOW.

But if you're wanting new family pictures for Christmas cards this year, now is when you should probably start thinking about it.

Fall is coming, my calendar is starting to fill, and November has a funny way of sneaking up on everyone.

So let's get those pictures done while we're still enjoying the pretty fall weather instead of trying to squeeze them in right before the holidays.

One thing I absolutely love about this session?
These aren't little kids.

This family has four adult children, and their youngest just graduated high school.
And you know what?

They still wanted family pictures.

I think there's this idea that family photos are something you do when your kids are little and then eventually you just…stop.
But why?! Your family doesn't stop being your family when the kids grow up.
If anything, getting everyone together gets HARDER.

So if your kids are teenagers, in college, married, out of the house, or anywhere in between — you can still have family photos.

Actually, PLEASE do.
Because these years matter too.

today we celebrate this guys 40th birthday.. so I may be a tad slower on getting back to messages.

SO cheers to the guy really behind Rosin's Lens. If it wasn't for him none of this would have been possible. His encouragement, love, honesty, and willingness to take ALL the kids at the drop of a hat so I can run to a last minute shoot at bedtime on a Sunday, and wrangle those same crazy kids away from me while I shoot an event that we are also all guest at is unmatched.

I did a little mid-year check-in today and realized something kind of cool.
Back in January, I set a goal for myself to photograph 30 paid sessions this year.
I had absolutely no idea if I would actually get there.

I'm currently at 16.

And while that number might not sound huge to everyone, it means a lot to me because every single one of those sessions was someone who chose me to photograph something important to them.

I've also already passed what I made from photography last year, which is pretty freaking cool.

I think sometimes when you're working toward something, you're so focused on what's still left to do that you forget to look back and see what you've already done. So today I'm just taking a minute to appreciate it.

One of my favorite things about senior sessions is getting to see their personality come out.
The serious faces, the big laughs, the outfits they picked specifically because they LOVE them, the random little things that make them who they are.

I don't want your senior gallery to look like everybody else's.
I want it to look like them.

September is almost here and I am SO ready for fall.. especially with it being in the 90s this weekend 🥵

Give me cooler weather, changing leaves, golden light, sweaters, senior sessions, family photos and all things spooky.

And this year September is going to look a little different because somewhere in the middle of all of that, we’re also having a baby. 😂

So I’m going to soak up every bit of this month.

Fall is hands down one of my favorite times of year to photograph, and I cannot wait to see all those pretty colors start showing up.

A little life update... 💛

Baby #4 will be here before we know it!

I'll be taking a short maternity leave from September 18 through October 12 to spend time soaking up all those newborn snuggles.

If you've been thinking about booking a family or senior session before then, now's the perfect time to reach out. I'll be back behind the camera on October 13 and can't wait to see everyone again!
