A few months ago I had an impulse to pick up my camera. It was old, dusty, well used, and been sitting in the back of my closet for years. I’ve always loved photography. I grew up shooting 35mm film and playing in dark rooms, but somewhere along the way I’d put it down and kind of just forgot that it was a big part of who I was.

I asked one of my dearest friends if I could take photos of her, and it was the most special experience.

It’s a privilege, to photograph someone. There’s so much beauty and vulnerability in being ‘seen’ that way. And in between fumbling around trying to remember how to adjust my aperture, I remembered how much I adore it and how powerful it is- truthfully, I could spend the rest of my life doing my best to capture a woman’s spirit and magic, and finding a way to tell her story.

Four months later— a lot of shoots, a few weddings, a new camera, and a photography festival in Croatia, and here we are.

Realigning with the thing that lights up my soul.

We really just never know how life is going to move. And I think that’s one of my most favourite parts ✨
