✨ Dress detail photos ✨
As a photographer, you have to be intentional about when and where you take bridal gown detail shots outdoors.
Lighter, slimmer gowns are much easier to bring outside and style. Even then, you need to consider proximity to the bridal suite and watch for dust, wind, and any unpredictable elements that could risk the dress staying clean.
For fuller, heavier silhouettes, it is often best to keep the gown indoors. You can still create a beautiful detail image by clearing the surrounding area and controlling the environment.
Brides, it is good to think about logistics when choosing locations for dress photos. If outdoor spaces feel risky at your venue, say it. An indoor detail shot is a great option if it means keeping your gown clean and you stress free.
Photographers, the most controlled environment is almost always indoors. If you do choose to shoot outside, be intentional, be prepared, and make sure every factor is working in your favor before you move the dress.
Beautiful images come from clean, intentional setups just as much as good light.
And in the end, if your dress gets a little dirty or dusty, don’t stress, Photoshop and Lightroom are great tools to fix that! And honestly, if you’re wearing a wedding dress, it’s going to pick up a little love from the day no matter what. All part of the charming chaos! 🫶🏻
