Travelling through the American southwest to stress test the 911 Dakar right after taking delivery was a non-negotiable for . When Mark ordered the Dakar, he knew exactly what he wanted to do with it. It was surely never meant to be garage queen, nor a slightly more capable daily commuter for harsher climates. This Porsche 911 Dakar logged its first few thousand miles driving from Los Angeles, trekking all the way through to various trails in Utah. The scenes were otherworldly, the experience was unforgettable, and the Dakar was more than capable.

Preston is no stranger to this — in fact, he’s worked on countless cars in his life and in the process of doing so, he has developed a lifelong friend with someone who shares the same level of enthusiasm as himself. This lifelong friend happens to be James Hendry, who is the mechanical wizard behind Sharkwerks who are based in Fremont, California. Working alongside Alex Ross, they have elevated the Porsche GT cars, which is in many ways nearly perfect — but made it more GT.

This particular car was one of Sharkwerks’ development mules when they were developing their formula, and Preston was there to watch it all unfold in the early years of the company. Fast forward years later, this particular car was offered for sale, and what better person to acquire it than the person who has a lifelong relationship with the founders of .
