Wyoming summers will remind ya that you’re a soul having a human experience on Earth✨💫

I took my first night photo in Yellowstone 11 summers ago and the last few summers I have been able to carve out time to visit Yellowstone and make some new geologic friend’s like Devil’s Tower and enjoy the night skies and ether like presence of nature and night skies that’ll make you feel as if you’ve travelled back in time to another realm!

We’ve gotten fortunate with Lady Aurora making appearances, even at one of our Astro workshops a few summers ago which was special as it was mostly alumni I knew quite well during the Perseid Meteor Shower, which is also my birthday! Triple treat babyyyyy!

We waited 7 hours or basically all night enjoying Aurora shows at a geyser that blew at twilight- it ended up just fogging us out and getting everything wet, so as impatient as we were it actually was better to have a late eruption after than for the geyser to blow its load on us mid shoot! Double lucked out on that one, I’m pretty good at forecasting Astro stuff but need to work on my familiarity with geysers 💨

There’s nothing like stargazing and watching the Milky Way Galaxy dance and reflect in the pools of Yellowstone or climb above the massive Bear Lodge (Devil’s tower, which was a mistranslation) that our Native friend’s have been doing for thousands, maybe 10’s of thousands of years.

A Blackfoot woman once told me her ancestors survived in the thermal pools of Yellowstone during the last TWO ice ages and the more archeologists and anthropologists study the feats of our ancestors, the more the ancient oral stories and ethos of character are corroborated. Pretty cool world we live in.

Idaho’s got some of the darkest night skies in the world and in the US. Pair that with pristine snowfed lakes and impressive sawtoothed mountain ridges make the mountains here an astrophotographer and star lovers ideal spot to spend summer and see the Milky Way Galaxy!

Ill be heading back here this August in the Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho to catch the Perseid Meteor Shower during our Sawtooth Starlight Astro workshop ✨📸

Come learn astrophotography, enjoy alpine swims, and reset your nervous system in nature with us in one of the best places in the world to do it! 2 spots remaining.

Shoutout my Navajo and Hopi friends & their families for letting this quirked up Anglo boy bust it down astrophotography style on their lands, what a privilege 💪✨

(no Rez aunties were hurt in the making of this)

If you’d like to join me this October capturing the wonderful canyons of Northern Arizona with our Navajo and Hopi guides and family friends, our Cosmic Canyon trip is 5 nights of exploring, enjoying, and teaching you how to shoot night photos at wonderful spots like the ones pictured in this reel. Epic geology and extremely dark skies ✨

We are mostly in hotels but have 2 non-sequential nights where we get to camp at Coal Mine Canyon and another unnamed canyon with epic front row views to the best phases of light and star alignments- we plan all our trips to get you comfortably into the backcountry spots to enjoy and capture the beauty.

Our trips are customized for learning night photography and true astrophotography adventures in the wilderness far away from drama, bs, and light pollution- and we actually have small groups unlike a lot of tours running 12+ people… not sure how others consider that small with the amount of lights at locations and lack of 1on1 instruction time with each guest. Couldn’t be us.

Looking forward to showing you the Navajo and Hopi wonders and night skies working closely with families on the Rez.

The incredibly canyons and valleys of the American Southwest, there is no greater concentration in Earth of accessible yet rugged natural beauty away from it all. The arid climate, lack of development, and high elevations make the American Southwest one of the best places on Earth to stargaze. I am still finding new geologic wonders out here and am so happy to call this place my home.

If you’re interested in seeing backcountry wonders and the darkest skies in the world, we put on group adventures to otherworldly photography spots, getting you out there during the best light and star alignments, while we give you expert instruction on how to capture them. Each trip is custom designed around learning astrophotography in SMALL groups with industry experts.

Our passion is to put on bucket list Astro trips, come join the adventures on one of our trips! We have a few spots in our Into the Badlands and Cosmic Canyon trips this Sept & Oct. link for info on profile!

The more I travel the more I realize I live in one of the most beautiful and unique areas in the world. The viewing of the night sky out here from remote canyon wilderness of Utah and Arizona, are how humans have for thousands of years, is phenomenal✨

I’m working on some backcountry trips later this summer and next spring to epic spots like this during the best time of year to capture them: moon cycle as well! Stay tuned for more info :)
