Wyoming summers will remind ya that you’re a soul having a human experience on Earth✨💫
I took my first night photo in Yellowstone 11 summers ago and the last few summers I have been able to carve out time to visit Yellowstone and make some new geologic friend’s like Devil’s Tower and enjoy the night skies and ether like presence of nature and night skies that’ll make you feel as if you’ve travelled back in time to another realm!
We’ve gotten fortunate with Lady Aurora making appearances, even at one of our Astro workshops a few summers ago which was special as it was mostly alumni I knew quite well during the Perseid Meteor Shower, which is also my birthday! Triple treat babyyyyy!
We waited 7 hours or basically all night enjoying Aurora shows at a geyser that blew at twilight- it ended up just fogging us out and getting everything wet, so as impatient as we were it actually was better to have a late eruption after than for the geyser to blow its load on us mid shoot! Double lucked out on that one, I’m pretty good at forecasting Astro stuff but need to work on my familiarity with geysers 💨
There’s nothing like stargazing and watching the Milky Way Galaxy dance and reflect in the pools of Yellowstone or climb above the massive Bear Lodge (Devil’s tower, which was a mistranslation) that our Native friend’s have been doing for thousands, maybe 10’s of thousands of years.
A Blackfoot woman once told me her ancestors survived in the thermal pools of Yellowstone during the last TWO ice ages and the more archeologists and anthropologists study the feats of our ancestors, the more the ancient oral stories and ethos of character are corroborated. Pretty cool world we live in.
