I don’t promise perfect family photos… and that’s the point.

Your toddler might refuse to sit still. Someone will probably make a silly face. Your baby might need a snack break. And honestly? I’m perfectly okay with that.

Because years from now, you won’t be looking back wishing everyone stood perfectly still and smiled at the camera. You’ll be remembering the way your little one wrapped their arms around your neck, the giggles, the chaos, the personality, and all the little moments that made your family yours.

My goal isn’t perfection. It’s connection.

The best photos happen when families let go of the pressure to perform and simply spend time together. That’s where the magic lives—in the in-between moments, the belly laughs, the wind-blown hair, and the love that can’t be posed.

So come as you are. I’ll take care of the rest.

And I promise those imperfect moments often become the favorites. 🤍

Didn’t summer just start?!

Every year I swear it sneaks up on me, and before I know it, I’m planning cozy sweaters, golden fields, crisp evenings, and all the beautiful fall memories we’ll be capturing together.

But honestly… I’m SO excited for this year’s minis because I found a stunning new location that I’ve been dying to try out, and I think you guys are going to absolutely love it. 😍

Photographers, I think we can all relate...

Somehow I’ve managed to completely overbook myself. 😂 And honestly? It’s a good problem to have.

All winter long I found myself wondering if things would pick back up. I worried about the slow season, checked my calendar way too often, and hoped the inquiries would start rolling in again.

Fast forward a few months, and now I’m sitting here asking myself, “How did I overbook my calendar?!” 🤦🏼‍♀️

Funny how quickly our worries can shift.

To my amazing clients—thank you. Truly. Thank you for trusting me time and time again to document your families, your milestones, your growing babies, and all the beautiful moments in between. There are so many of you that I get to see year after year, and it never stops meaning the world to me. Watching your families grow and being invited back to capture each new chapter is one of the greatest honors of this job.

I also have some exciting new things in the works that I can’t wait to share with you all soon!

With that said, my books are officially closed for June and July. I have just a small amount of dates remaining for August and September, and fall mini session details will be released soon. 🍂

Read to the end ❤️

Boy, life has a way of keeping me busy lately.

The last few weeks have been filled with so much family time, adventures, laughter, late nights, slow mornings, and all the little moments that make life feel so full. And honestly? It’s been such a blessing.

Somewhere between the garden growing, summer adventures, homeschool days, family trips, and everyday life, it hit me just how fast my littles are growing. The shoes get bigger, the faces change, and suddenly the little things you thought would last forever become memories.

It’s a reminder to slow down. To put down the to-do list every once in a while. To spend time with the people you love. To say yes to the adventure. To stay a little longer. To take the photos.

So many photos.

Because one day, these moments will be all we have left of this season.

As a photographer, I spend my days preserving memories for other families. But this week reminded me that I need to be just as intentional about preserving my own.

Don’t wait for the perfect time. Don’t wait until life slows down. Take the trip. Get in the photos. Capture the memories.

Because these little years? They’re gone far too fast.

Motherhood minis will always be some of my favorite sessions to shoot. Every single mama who came through was in a completely different chapter and I loved every second of it.

We had fresh bumps and sleepy newborns and wiggly toddlers who had zero interest in looking at my camera! Those are the frames I always end up loving most. The real ones.

I've been documenting motherhood for years now and I still tear up editing these galleries. There's something about a mama just holding her baby, not performing, not posing, just being there, that gets me every time. These moments are so fleeting and I feel really lucky to be the one who gets to freeze them.

I disliked minis. But now that I’ve grown into my studio - they’re actually fun!

Not because they weren't worth it. Because I thought my clients wanted more time, more variety, more everything. So I kept booking full sessions and figured that was just the way.

Then I opened SlateStudio and ran my first mini session weekend.

Turns out, a lot of Lake Country mamas don't need two hours. They need 20 focused minutes in a calm, beautiful space where someone else has already picked out the outfits, the lighting is perfect, and nobody is rushing them.

There really is nothing sweeter.

A brand new baby, fresh from the world, sleeping in the softest little curl. Those tiny fingers. That quiet stillness. The way a whole room slows down around a newborn.

Newborn sessions at are where my heart truly settles. Everything about this space was designed for moments like these. Soft natural light, no rushing, and a baby-led pace that lets us just... be.

If you're expecting and still on the fence about a studio session, I want you to know it's more than photos. It's your first slow morning as a family of (however many). It's the details you'll forget by the time they're one.

Someday they'll describe their childhood to someone you've never met.

They'll tell that story with so much detail. The way dad swung them upside down in the field. The tiny hand reaching out to smell a wildflower. The glasses that kept sliding down his nose. All of it.

What they remember is shaped by the references you give them. And photographs are those references when the memory isn't there anymore.

That's why I do this.
