There’s a moment during almost every session that I’m waiting for.

It’s the moment when my client stops thinking about the camera.

Maybe we’ve been talking for a few minutes. Maybe I’ve made them laugh. Maybe we’ve moved around enough that posing starts to feel less like posing and more like just hanging out. And suddenly their shoulders relax, their smile changes, and I get to see the person underneath all that nervousness.

THAT is when the magic happens.🙌

Because the images I love most aren’t always the perfectly posed ones. They’re the ones where someone looks completely comfortable, genuinely happy, confident, and like themselves.

My goal isn’t to make you look like someone else. It’s to help you feel comfortable enough to let the real you show up in front of my camera.

And when that happens, you get the kind of photos where you look at them and think, “Wow, that's really me!”

We are knee deep in senior season, and I wouldn't have it any other way! 💕 The Class of 2027 is proving to be such a fun, amazing group of seniors. So much personality, so many unique styles, and SO many good laughs already!

I can't wait to see what the rest of senior season brings!

One of the most common things I hear before a session is, “I have no idea how to pose.”

And honestly? That’s completely okay. You’re not supposed to know.

You’re hiring a photographer because you want beautiful, natural images, not because you’ve spent years practicing what to do with your hands, where to put your feet, or which way to turn your body.

That’s my job.

I’m constantly watching what’s happening in front of my camera and giving you little directions along the way. Turn this way. Shift your weight. Move your hand here. Look at me. Now look away. Walk toward me. Laugh at me because I just said something ridiculous.

Before you know it, you’re moving naturally instead of worrying about whether you’re doing it “right.”

And that’s really what I want for every person I photograph. I want you to feel comfortable enough to stop thinking about the camera and start being yourself.

You don’t have to know what to do.

You just have to show up with a willing heart. I promise to take it from there.🫶

One of my favorite things about senior sessions is watching a senior relax and let their personality shine through. Before Gabe’s session, his mom mentioned that he wasn’t exactly looking forward to having his photos taken. But within just a few minutes, everything changed.

As we walked, talked, and got to know each other a little better, Gabe started to come out of his shell. We shared some great conversations, built a natural rapport, and before long, his genuine personality started to shine through. Those are always my favorite moments, because the best senior photos aren’t about perfect poses, they’re about capturing who someone really is.🫶

I loved seeing Gabe relax, have fun, and trust the process, and I think we created some truly authentic, genuinely "Gabe" photos that his family will treasure for years to come. Here are just a few of my favorites!!

One of my favorite things about branding photography is when a client comes to me with ideas already in mind. That's exactly what Jodi did. She knew her brand, she was confident in what she wanted to communicate, and she even brought along inspiration photos to help show me the look and feel she was envisioning.

And I loved that.🫶

But my job isn't to simply recreate a photo you've found on Pinterest or Instagram. It's to take what you love about that idea and help turn it into something that feels like you.

As we planned Jodi's session, we talked through her inspiration and looked for ways to make those ideas fit her personality, her brand, and the way she wanted to show up for her clients. Sometimes it's a simple change in the pose or location. Other times it's changing the way we're framing the image, adding a personal element, or putting a completely different spin on the original idea.

Those little creative decisions are what make branding photography so much more personal.

Because you don't want your photos to simply look good. You want someone to look at them and immediately think, "Yep, that's her."

That's what we created for Jodi, and that's always my goal with a branding session. Take your ideas, add my creative eye, and create images that feel completely and authentically you!

There’s something extra special about photographing a senior when you’ve been part of their family’s story for years. I first photographed Gabe as a baby, have photographed their family through the years, and a few years ago I had the honor of photographing his older brother’s senior portraits too.

Now it was Gabe’s turn, and I honestly can’t believe how quickly the years have gone! I absolutely love this family and feel so grateful they’ve trusted me to capture so many of these special moments along the way.🫶

One of the biggest questions I get before a branding session is, “What should I wear?”

Tina totally nailed her outfit choices for her session at The Farnam! When choosing outfits for branding photos, think about your brand colors, the personality you want to show, and pieces that make you feel confident and like YOU. I also recommend bringing a few different options so we can create a variety of looks.

Thank you to each and every one of you who reached out with love and support after my dad’s passing. It has meant so much to me and my family. ❤️

I’m back in the office this week as I take some time to process the past few weeks and slowly catch up on orders. I’ll be reaching out to everyone who needs to reschedule this week. Thank you so much for your patience, understanding, and kindness as I ease back into things.

Absolutely loved this styled Content Session for Tina at The Farnam Hotel! She showed up looking amazing as usual and absolutely rocked her session! 🤍

There’s just something so fun about creating photos that feel polished, professional, and completely YOU. We had the best time bringing her vision to life and capturing content she can use all year long.

Tina, you make my job way too easy!

I wanted to share this old photo of my dad today, and a little piece of my heart with it. 💔

We are saying goodbye to him this week. His fight is finally finished, and he is now at rest.

We had so much fun looking through old photos this week with my mom. (Insert your reminder to take the photos, and print them here🫶🏻) So many memories from his childhood, their wedding, his military time and all our family memories.

I’m going to be out of the office for a few more days to be with my family while we say goodbye.

Thank you for giving me that space, and for all of your kindness and understanding. It means so so much right now. 💔
