At the end of the day, the herd moves on,
leaving more behind than most would ever notice.

The Space They Leave is my newest collection, and in many ways, it’s a love letter to one of my first passions-horses.

Stripped of color, I wanted to stay with what remains, the rhythm of the herd, the quiet knowing, the way the land seems to hold its breath as they pass through.

This piece, Onward, follows the herd as the day closes, moving together toward the next place to rest, the next place to graze. It’s life, carried forward. And it’s everything.

Watching them, I’m reminded how much of their story lives in these small, quiet moments, and how easily they could slip into memory.

These images are meant to linger, holding space for reverence, care, and deep gratitude for what is still here, and what may not always be. They’re meant to bring calm and awareness into the spaces we live with every day.

I love how much personality these birds carry.

The head tilt.
The sharp eye.
That look that feels equal parts curious and calculating.

This wasn’t a quiet moment for me, it was a charged one. Like being assessed. Like the question wasn’t what am I doing here, but what are you?

I photograph what makes my heart happy, and I’m endlessly drawn to animals that feel aware of the exchange.

If this bird had a thought bubble, what do you think it would say?

There was a moment on the trail when I felt myself wanting to rush, eager to finally see Deer Creek Falls.

But the forest had other plans.

I was alone, surrounded by the scent of damp earth, pine, and moss, with the soft sound of water guiding me forward. It slowed my steps, grounding me in the small details I might have missed had I hurried through.

I’m deeply grateful for these quiet moments, for the chance to witness the beauty nature tucks away and to simply be present in it. The falls were beautiful, but the calm that led me there stayed with me.

This is what meditation must feel like.

I photograph what makes my heart happy.
Sometimes that’s wild horses.
Sometimes it’s saguaros standing watch in the desert.
Sometimes it’s waterfalls slipping quietly through the forest.

And sometimes, it’s a bird like this.

The quiet confidence. The watchful eye. The stillness that holds more than movement ever could. This moment asked nothing of me except to notice it, and I was more than happy to listen.

This is why I do what I do.
Because when something in the wild speaks to you, you don’t walk past it.

“Run of Memory”

There’s a rhythm in the wild that can’t be contained—movement that feels both powerful and fleeting.

These wild horses ran through a shimmer of dust and light, and for a moment, it felt like watching a memory in motion. As I edited this image, I couldn’t help but think how fragile that freedom has become—how quickly the wild can fade when we take it for granted.

This piece, Run of Memory, has stayed with me. It’s about more than motion—it’s about legacy. The idea that what moves us most deeply is often what we’re in danger of losing.

Through this series, I’ve been exploring presence, emotion, and the balance between strength and loss. Each frame reminds me why these moments matter—and why I keep chasing them.

I loved the background on this image so much, I decided to let it ghost through—soft, distant, and part of the story.

As I worked on this piece, I couldn’t shake the thought that one day, this may be all that’s left of the wild herds—a memory, a photograph, a whisper of what once was. Herds that once roamed free are disappearing, their freedom fading like mist on the horizon.

This image became a quiet reflection on that loss—a reminder of how fragile beauty can be, and how deeply we’re connected to the untamed.

“The Dance of the Wild”

Not every connection is quiet. Some arrive with the force of a storm—raw, powerful, and alive.

These wild stallions move with a rhythm older than words, a blend of strength and grace that exists only for a fleeting moment. Within that clash of energy, there’s balance—and somehow, beauty.

Each piece in this series is part of my ongoing exploration of fine art nature photography—where emotion, balance, and restraint bring the wild into focus. Working on these gives me goosebumps every time; it’s the closest I’ve come to translating what the wild makes me feel.
