I was so lucky to see this guy for his birthday photos! Birthday sessions are such a wonderful tradition. When it’s all about one kiddo (or even an adult!), the session is simple, fun, and gives me the chance to freeze these little moments in time. Memories I cherish and I know you will too!

I took this picture in 2011 or 2012! I was learning how to photograph in low light with long exposure. This was taken with my very first camera with a stock lens. This goes to show that your equipment doesn’t always translate to your capability! This photo has been such an icon for me as I’ve grown.

Is there anything more fun than a first birthday or a good cake smash? My typical cake smash and birthday sessions take place in the playroom of our house! I transform it into a perfect little space for messy smiles, tiny hands, and those sweet baby cheeks that never stay little long enough. Outdoor sessions work too if the season is appropriate!

Being trusted to take maternity pictures is a privilege I don’t take for granted. What makes this session especially meaningful is that when I first met Ashley, it was during this very little girl’s maternity session. Watching life come full circle like this is one of the quiet gifts of photography I cherish wholeheartedly! Ashley has literally been there from day one of my photography days and I have watched her sweet kids grow up through my lens.
