So the point of all of this is while I may have the occasional good idea that causes me to pursue a personal project, that’s not how I spend most of my time. There are a LOT of other folks out there with good ideas. I’ve made my living using my particular set of skills to help other people bring their ideas to life, whether it’s selling, promoting, educating, entertaining or likely some combination. Blue Angels practice Tuesday. One of my favorite Blues images I’ve taken in a while. The point of the trip was to get video of the UWF Basketball team for the promo you can see in my story right now. All relatively close up and wide angle lens stuff. No need for a big lens. But I’m glad I threw the 400 in the bag just in case 🙂

I have a problem. Well, the drone world has a problem. A lot of businesses and institutions have grounded DJI drones because of security concerns, including UWF where I spend my days capturing and editing images. The problem is, if you just need a flying camera, there aren’t many options.

I shot these images last weekend with our American made Skydio 2+ drone we bought the middle of last year. But it’s been discontinued and even when we bought ours I got the impression they went and got one out of some abandoned warehouse to sell us 🙂 They still make and sell great tactical drones that come in around 15K but that’s a lot to spend if you just need pretty pictures. So I was a little more nervous than I usually am with my DJI as I took it out over the Gulf. One dip and were droneless 🙂

So for now I’ll just be more careful and wait to see what US entrepreneurs are busy trying to fill this prosumer market hole. Unless you guys have any ideas

My year-end photography highlights. See, working at a university, I go by the academic calendar 🙂 so here are some favorites from around last August to this May.

Limited to 20, so lots of sports-ball, music, and theatre but none of the headshots, portraits, and events that take up much of my still photography life. Mostly U-Dub shoots but a couple of freelance gigs too.

Haven’t put together a videography reel in a while so I’m working on that also. Love that I get to do a lot of both right now. (Building out my LinkedIn (no reason, don’t worry) so posting it over here too for fun.)

UWF Softball is off to a 14-2 start, most of which have been away games. Finally got a chance to see and photograph them yesterday at home. Another win. Oh, this is gonna be a fun season!
