On June 7th, 2026 in a town named Lorenzo, NE.. Storm Chaser Brett Wright and I witnessed one of the most incredible sunset storms of our lives. Colors I couldn’t even comprehend.

Exactly a year ago on the same date, storm chasers were collectively losing their minds over the storm in Nara Visa, NM which also had incredible sunset colors and structure.

June 7th, 2027, what will it be? 👀

Wind turbines get struck a lot by lightning but this was the first time I actually saw the aftermath! This storm was kind of dying at that time so no one expected it to spit out a huge bolt all of a sudden. But even on it’s last breath, deadly lightning can still occur!

I call it the “bolt of death”, I feel like when a storm is about to die it can spit out some really gnarly lightning right before. At least that’s a pattern I’ve recognized 😅 this one really caught us off guard
