Happy 250th Anniversary, America! 🇺🇸✨

In the spirit of exploration and discovery on this momentous occasion, I wanted to try something completely different with my camera this year.

Last year was my first time photographing fireworks so I did the traditional wide-angle, long-exposure, tripod thing. For this show, I wanted to get up close and personal. I went rogue -- ditched the tripod, grabbed a 100-400mm telephoto lens, and shot handheld using manual focus and a 1/20s shutter speed to stay sharp.

The result? Incredible textures, vibrant abstract designs, and a really cool interplay between the firework trails and the trees. I absolutely love the intricate patterns that emerged!

I’m kind of obsessed with this new look, but I want your honest take: Is this close-up style a win, or do you prefer the classic wide shots? Drop a comment below! 👇

Capturing the true personality of a shy pet requires patience, a low perspective, and a deep respect for their journey. 🐾

This is Pip. To anyone else, she’s a beautiful, roly-poly "scaredy-cat" who hides from all. But to her 92-year-old momma, she is a sweet, fiercely loyal shadow who went from a porch stray to a beloved indoor companion.

In July of 2024, Pip slipped outside and vanished for over 30 days. What followed was an intense, month-long community effort:

The Neighborhood Stakeout:
While my cousin Emma Grace Moug and I worked tirelessly, it was mostly Rita Foster-Barnett who set up elaborate traps, trail cameras, and feeding stations. Rita spent multiple nights sitting in her vehicle outside, watching live camera feeds in the dark, waiting for the perfect moment to safely rescue her.

The Midnight Chaos:
Our feeding stations accidentally hosted a month-long midnight party for every raccoon and critter in the radius, leaving the yard a total disaster! (Entertaining to watch on camera, at least 😂)

The Safe Return:
Thanks to Rita's incredible dedication and Philip Foree 's rescue support, Pip was caught, vetted, safely quarantined, and returned to her momma's arms.

Looking at her now, safely tucked into her favorite hiding spots, I wanted to capture that quiet sense of security.

Late-night neon magic from Shutterfest. 🌙✨

Had the absolute pleasure of photographing the stunning Liv (.the.pink.dream) during an after-hours shoot. Pushed the low-key lighting to the limit to let her vibrant colors completely pop against the shadows.

St. Louis Union Station was the perfect backdrop for some fine-art pet portraiture. 🏛️✨

Meeting up with Saffron the morning after wrapped was a massive highlight. I loved taking her out of the typical "dog at a park" setting and bringing her into this massive historic and architecturally stunning space.

She was the absolute perfect model for playing with moody shadows and timeless stone textures. I’m honestly obsessed with those noble profile shots of her.

Swipe through to see the set. Does your pet pose like total royalty, or are they a complete goofball when the camera comes out?

Finding quiet beauty in a historic space....

When I was in St. Louis for back in April, I found myself constantly pulling away from the crowds to just study the lines, light, and shadows of St. Louis Union Station.

While the event itself was full of high-energy learning, these quiet moments of personal exploration are where my creative soul really recharges. This historic venue is an absolute dream—every hallway, arch, and window pane feels like a masterclass in architectural design and light interplay. Swipe through to see how I captured the quiet side of the station.

I love hunting for hidden details and dramatic shadows in spaces most people just walk right past. What's a hidden gem or historic spot in your own town that you think more people should notice? 🏙️👇
