Hey friends! I wanted to share how Martha’s Horizon Photography got its name because it’s a little different from other photographers, and not many people know the story behind it.
When I was trying to choose a name, I went back and forth with several different ideas. Some were too similar to others, and some just didn’t feel right. I knew whatever I chose had to be important to me and have meaning. So, when this name came to me, I knew it was the right one.
Martha was one of the very first cows I ever named and bonded with. She was a stubborn drama queen, pushing everyone to their limits, and she definitely had her own way of life. Martha was always ready for some scratches and extra food whenever she could get it.
Unfortunately, she is now in heaven, probably eating in the biggest pasture she’s ever seen. Martha passed away on our farm about two years ago. Her passing was one of my biggest heartbreaks. Because of her, I learned more about myself, and of course, she was always ready to have her picture taken by me.
My new logo is inspired entirely by Martha and I used a photo of her to create it. I am so grateful to have had her in my life and for having photos to remember and honor her. This is why photography is so important to me. Photos are like a time stamp that you will have forever and to be able to have them of your special moments or just of your favorite pet can be so special for everyone.
