Dr. Page Morahan honed her photographic skills in capturing the flora, fauna, animals, and scenic vistas of the 40-plus nations served by the Foundation for the Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER, https://www.faimer.org/global/), whose mission is to advance quality in health care education worldwide and improve health care for all. As her newest goal, she is seeking to bring people closer together through striking photographic imagery from around the globe, starting an art business to support FAIMER. Her career includes being a medical school department chair, leading a research laboratory for over twenty years and providing guidance and participating in grant evaluation efforts for the National Institute of Health. Developing a passion for faculty development while chair, she moved into administration and founded an Office for Faculty Affairs. This led to founding the Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM, https://drexel.edu/medicine/academics/womens-health-and-leadership/elam/). The program is devoted to providing tools to enable women to become chairs, deans, and leaders of health professions schools. This led to her being co-founder of the FAIMER Institute. Dr. Morahan’s artistic efforts have appeared in numerous galleries and been featured in publications around the world. Website: https://www.pagespagesgallery.com/. I'm drawn to the simple contrast: a single hibiscus with lemon-yellow petals set against a deep black field. The vivid crimson throat and the diagonal stamen give the image a quiet tension, and the matte folds, granular pollen, and gently frayed edges invite a closer look. Warm and confident without being over the top. . The famous Butchart Gardens, created from a worked-out limestone quarry beginning in 1904, now contains dozens of distinct garden areas. This yellow hibiscus — its petals swept wide in a bold diagonal, the deep red center and tall stamen column commanding the frame — was photographed in the sunken garden on a clear summer day during our fantastic visit there.

We went to Whitehall Farm Gardens today to enjoy this tremendous nursery and pick up several plants for our gardens, of course!

They are so knowledgeable and so friendly and helpful. This nursery focuses on native plants and plants that are good for the environment. I really love shopping here.

There were three plants that really got my attention, in addition to the ones I bought of course! There was a double quince that I had never seen before. There was a small wisteria and there was this red kousa dogwood. It appears to be a new variety that has been developed so that now we have red in the kousa dogwoods as well. I'm delighted to hear that.

Whitehall Farm Gardens is located at 1698 Whitehall Road, Norristown, PA 19403. It is definitely worth looking up and enjoying a lovely visit to a nursery!

🌸 VOTE spelled in flowers. 🗳️ Democracy spelled in participation.

My May blog is live — and it's personal. I wear my VOTE earrings every election season because my parents taught me, without ever quite saying so, that showing up is not optional.

This month I'm writing about voting as both a privilege and a responsibility — the sobering numbers (89 million eligible Americans didn't vote in 2024 — 1 in 3), what other states and nations show us is possible, and why primaries like the ones happening right now matter more than most people realize.

Plus: my Vote in Flowers collage, which combines two of my great loves — floral photography and democracy. And a small creative offer inside that I think you'll love. 🌷

Another micro meditation moment when I slow down and look at this beautiful bush full of rhododendron blooms, and then focus on just one of these glorious blooms.

It's so important for me to take a moment and slow down and enjoy what our Higher Power has put before us today in the beauty of nature.

More behind the scenes of an artist's life.

Spent last weekend delivering my new Mother's Day, Father's Day, and Freedom multi-language greeting cards to my four local galleries.

Just in time I hope for those celebrations!

My greeting cards are at PAFA Museum Store, Mt Airy Art Garage, Second to Nun Framery and Gallery and Dave's Backyard Farms market.
