Some toddlers will sit still with their new baby sibling and smile nicely for photos... or so I've been told 😂
But who wants that anyway! Give me all of the rambunctious energy, all of the silly faces, all of the wrestling and jumping on furniture! I mean, we got a few sweet, quiet (very quick) photos of these brothers, but these are the ones I'd want to see if I was having a photo session with a newborn and a toddler. These feel so real to my memories of those crazy days ❤️

Put dozens of photographers in one hotel for and you'll expect to see some similarities in the photos we take during our stay.

Some patterns emerge, but even as we find inspiration in similar moments, similiar scenes, our resulting images are just that little bit different. That change of angle, of perspective, of approach, of tone.

What a gift it is, to spend time with these creative women, to see what we have in common, and to get a glimpse into what makes them want to pick up their cameras.

Listen, it's not about me.
But when a family I've loved and worked with for many years says I'm the only photograher they want for their elopement? Well, I was crying in the middle of Trader Joe's is all 🥹

And look, I'm not saying you need to be getting ready to get married for your family photo session, but these are probably some of my favorite images I've taken ever ❤️

And yes, I squeezed between two car seats in the back of their car to get this epic shot as we drove down Broad Street.

International Association of Professional Birth Photographers' yearly competition has always been very special to me. Have you read the poem "first they came" lately? Because we're living in it, and none of us knows which line will have us in it next.

This is not about politics. This is about whether or not you believe that any human next to you deserves to be treated with as much respect as you do.

I have heard from so many friends who wish they could be speaking out even more than they are, but live with real fear of what those with power could do to them.

I always tell them, “Do what feels safe for you, let those of us lower down in the poem take up the slack.”

For now, it’s relatively easy for me to speak up. I present as white, cis, straight, and live in a progressive city surrounded by a like-minded community. I'm a business owner, but my business is me, and none of us can afford to stay silent. I'm a woman, and Jewish, and none of us are safe until all of us are.

This is not the time to be neutral. This is not the time to be quiet. This is a time to be brave, to take whatever voice you have and let it be heard.

And just imagine, if we all spoke up, how loud it would be…
