I saw a post today that broke my heart.
A couple weeks ago, these two reached out about doing one last photo session with their beautiful dog, Palmer. Their soul pup. The kind of love you don’t even have words for.
Palmer hadn’t had an easy life. He was dealt more than his fair share, but they never stopped fighting for him. Fundraising, advocating, loving him through every single chapter. And somehow, in just a few short years, he became everything to them.
When we were messaging, I was still in Jersey, just hoping I’d make it back in time. I landed from a red eye and went straight to meet them.
That was the first and last time I met Palmer.
Even in his final days, he had this calm, grounding energy. You could feel how deeply he was loved just by being near him.
These are the sessions that stay with me.
Because photos aren’t just for the best days. They’re for the real ones. The hard, sacred, fleeting moments we’d give anything to hold onto.
And honestly, I never charge for sessions like this. Not because they don’t have value, but because they have so much of it. Being trusted with something this meaningful is the gift.
Hold your animals a little tighter tonight & send your thoughts out to their family. We will miss you Palmer.
