Sometimes moments in our lives don’t play out as we imagined they would.

Relationships struggle. Jobs end. Health suffers. People leave. Our hopes for beauty crash as our expectations cease to be met.

Hope deferred deserves grief. It is natural to weep over wanted moments lost in the chaos of life. But eventually we are met with a choice. We can remain grief stricken.
We can wave our fists at God and demand what we feel is our due.

Or we can recognize our own lack.
How we truly deserve worse than our lot.
We can be grateful for the prayers He did answer and even more for the evil He kept at bay by not answering others.

We can choose to believe we were created for more than the satisfaction of our own romanticized desires, and that His will, though often different than our vision, is better.
Not easier.
Not safer.
Better…

…because we were created for His glory not our own.

Same set up, different looks.

Photography is much like life—in most situations the main thing that needs to change is your perspective.

(Also, the sun flares on that rooftop level were INSANE 🔥🙌🏻)

Honesty hour:
I hate posting.
I struggle with comparison and over analyzing my photos to the point I’ll go from ‘I love this shot!’ to ‘ugh I should/could have done better’.
And then that post sits in my drafts (better known as photo purgatory) for eternity.
I’m trying to get better, though I’m human and sometimes my flaws win.
But today,
Today they don’t.

New seasons.
Sweet moments.
All soaked in His glorious light.

Cannot wait to meet you Baby Williams.

Holy Spirit, be with the families that lost loved ones today. Mourn with them. Hold them as they weep and as they cry out in anger. Comfort them as they awake tomorrow to a cruel new reality.

Father God, thank you for welcoming those sweet children and teachers into your loving arms, for treasuring them into eternity.

Jesus, come meet us in our grief. In our anger. In our disbelief. Bring about a change in our hearts, in our nation. In our world.

Oh Abba.

Most of all LORD,
please protect our children.
Maranatha.

Truthfully I don’t usually post previews the day after a wedding.

Even more rare is that the first preview I share wouldn’t highlight the bride & groom.

But to know them is to understand this photo.

This photo focuses on two of the most important men in the bride’s life. One, as her now husband, the other as her nephew. A kid whose heart and kindness makes him a giant in this world. Being with their family you would never know what they all have had to overcome. And yet, they haven’t lost their joy, love, kindness, or hope.

If anything, they grasp the essence of life better than most.

So here’s to moments shared with the ones we love. May we never forget how precious they are, and how wildly lucky we are to live them.

Tonight, I had a million journaled thoughts ready to tack on here. Goodness knows rereading C.S. Lewis’s works will give one plenty to mull over. But in truth nothing quite fit and I felt such frustration with my lack of articulation only to realize how silly it all was.

I take these images to tell a story that sometimes cannot be aptly described with words. So why was I fretting with the need for the images to conform to the barriers of syllables in my mind?

Oh the unnecessary paces we put ourselves through sometimes, it’s enough to make one laugh at the madness of it all.

So here is one of my favorite moments in John & Christine’s love story. Take from it what you will.
I hope it brings you the joy it ignites in me.

This Christmas morning I watched my niece go down the stairs with increased anticipation in every step. As I watched I was reminded of how her exuberant nature resembled the process of trusting in the goodness of the Lord.

The unknown can cause the bravest of souls to waver. It can be overwhelming in its vast possibilities. The unknown often causes us to be trepidatious towards what the future holds and begin to doubt if it’s even a destination worth pursuing with Him at all.

But the unknown in the hands of a loving God is exciting. It’s a time of waiting with exceeding joy! It’s believing that while the unknown might not align with what we had envisioned for ourselves, our Father who loves us to depths we could never comprehend will make good from it.

That ‘if not [our plans/dreams/wants/needs] He is still good.’

So tonight I’m trying to have faith like my niece did in her parents’ provision this Christmas morning. To see waiting for the unknown as a time of anticipation and gratitude. Grateful for what He has already done, eagerly awaiting what He has next for me. All while knowing, whether it’s the answered prayer or an unexpected turn in the road, He is still good.

Merry Christmas ✨

I started the year capturing their wedding.
Now I’m finishing it capturing the start of a whole new season.

The cycle of life. The timing of it all…it’s easy to look at my life and struggle with understanding why. It’s easy to question, it’s hard to trust. To lean on His character and believe that while He doesn’t promise us safety, His goodness and His glory are a guarantee.

A guarantee of what the future holds. One where grace and redemption are given freely. Where deep, unwavering hope meets a strong and mighty Saviour.

Where, nestled in the palm of His hand, miracles happen.

Even little ones purposefully placed in moments like this.

Where the timing, the timing is strikingly perfect.

Another late night (early morning?) post.

Looking back on my life tonight I can see with new eyes the redemption story He has so gently, yet intentionally, woven throughout my testimony.

Even if I just consider my relationship with my family—the intimacy, growth (generational and personal), and wondrous…no, miraculous way life has made us stronger. Healthier. Better.

The girl I was when I found Jesus in 2008 wouldn’t believe the life I hold now. She wouldn’t believe that she could make it through the losses that were to come. But more so she wouldn’t be able to comprehend the miracles and blessings God has in store for her. That this God she had just come to know loves her so deeply that He will bring her through the perils of darkness and wash her in His radiant light. Again. And again. And again.

Nights like tonight make me grateful for the gifting of photography. It allows me to try to capture in a finite way the infinite ways God moves in our lives. To capture just a glimpse of His glory on earth. So this is my offering to you all, in the midst of the dark of night this is my beam of hope filled light.

It gets better.✨

‘When the beauty of reality seems so impossible it is easily assumed to be manmade…yet did awe inspiring magnificence not begin with God?’

I haven’t posted on here in over a year. Oof. So much has changed in that time. Grateful for my clients whom, in my year of solitude from this social media account, helped me nearly double my business’s income and spread my name further than I ever imagined possible. It was from that place of financial and creative freedom I was able to make some decisions that I will be sharing later on. But for now, thank you for your ongoing support.❤️
