Facebook has been pestering me about how long its been since I posted something.

They've finally worn me down so here's a new post!

~ Frigid

Both sea water and beer freeze at around the same temperatures, approximately 26 to 28 degrees Fahrenheit. It was much colder than that the morning this image was made.

It was well worth the frozen fingers and toes to watch a scene like this unfold!

~ Rain drops on Rhodies

If you've never been to the Rhododendron garden at the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens you should check it out. If you've never seen it AND you want to learn the fundamentals of macro photography than you're in luck!

~ Complementary

Due to a bunch of technical stuff that I won't bore you with color relationships tend to take on more importance in macro than they would in most other types of photography. At life size, or a 1:1 reproduction ratio, colors become more vibrant and saturated than they otherwise would be. Because of this phenomena the placement and balance of complementary colors becomes extremely important compositionally in macro photography.
