After helping couples plan and photograph weddings in the Dolomites over the past few years, we've noticed the happiest couples all have one thing in common:

They focus less on checking off Instagram-famous locations and more on creating an adventure that's unique to them.

Here are a few things we wish every couple knew before planning their wedding in the Italian Alps:

✨ Don't choose your location based on Instagram.�The most popular spot isn't always the right one - trust us. Think about your hiking ability, the season, whether you're inviting guests, level of privacy you envision and the type of experience you want - not just the view.

🌅 Sunrise is (almost) always worth it.�You'll usually have fewer crowds, a lower chance of afternoon storms, and access to special experiences like private dock reservations at Lago di Braies and easier access to places like Tre Cime before they become busy.

🚗 Everything is farther apart than it looks.�Trying to visit too many locations usually means spending more time driving than enjoying your wedding. Staying near your ceremony locations can make all the difference.

📅 Plan for more than one day if you can.�Your wedding doesn't have to fit into eight hours. Spend a few days exploring, hiking, relaxing at your hotel, eating incredible Italian food, and soaking in every moment together..maybe even ending with wedding tattoos?!

Just over one year ago, G + C had the most stunning elopement adventure in the Dolomites of Italy - complete with cows as their witness 👀✨

Truly though - during one of the most stunning sunsets we've witnessed at Tre Cime, they hiked + explored together until the sun went down - with all the excitement buzzing the air for their sunrise ceremony at Lago di Braise the following morning.

They flew all the way from Australia for their dream elopement in the Dolomites and DANG, did Mother Nature show up for them.

From epic valley views to a private helicopter ride, secluded mountain top exploring, an intimate ceremony at Lago di Braise, a hike around the lake and two custom-designed sentimental wedding tattoos, G + B did it ALL for their 2 day elopement adventure in Italy...and dang, was it GOOD.

We asked them why they chose to go all-in on a big multi-day wedding adventure in Italy (the Dolomites specifically!) rather than having a big, traditional wedding back home. Here's what they said:
