Meet Dumpling!! Her wrinkles are so PRECIOUS.
Dumpling was originally at Maricopa County Animal Care and Control where Pei People Shar Pei Rescue transferred her into their care, and ιaηe ❥ has opened her home and has been fostering her 😍 Dumpling was recently adopted and was returned because she was a little too interested in the adopter’s cats.

On I have to admit that I didn’t expect to have another dog in my life after Sasha. I really mean it, I was so heartbroken and for many reasons, I didn’t want another pup. It just hurt too much. I didn’t think I could ever have another pup that I was connected to on that level. She truly was what many lovingly refer to as, my soul dog.

But a little after one month after her passing, I met this little guy and let’s just say that I should have known he was mine when Evan told Courtney that we wanted to foster him and I started ugly crying - and I have cried every time we’ve adopted a dog. I have never experienced this before, meeting a dog while volunteering and then instantly falling hard, and taking them home that day - in my 10 years of volunteering I’ve never done anything this sporadic 😂

Fast forward 9ish months and he is my best buddy, Evan’s dream has come true to carry a little dog in a cute bag, and he makes our days so much brighter.

A dear friend after Sasha’s passing said to me “after a pup dies you just need to fill that empty hole in your heart with another dog”, at the time I wasn’t sure about that, but now I do agree with her 😂 that friend was Christy Ann 😂

Here are 4 things we always do to keep our pup safe (and happy!) when the summer storms roll in. 🌵 🌧️

1. Potty Break Before the Wind Picks Up
If we sense a storm is on its way, we do a potty run before the winds start.
Wind = Valley Fever risk from disturbed desert soil.

2. Keep Them Inside
During the storm we keep our pup inside where it is safe for him.

3. Noise-Sensitive Pup? Prep a Calm Spot
Thunderstorms can be scary.
Create a cozy space with a favorite bed or crate, white noise, and their favorite chew or toy. We like to play soft music or turn on the TV to drown out the storm’s sounds. Consult your veterinarian to use calming tools such as medications.

4. Connect with a Force Free Trainer
Do you feel like you are struggling to help your pup during a storm? You’re not alone. Connect with a force free trainer to work on skills to help you and your pup. (link in our bio to see our favorite local trainers!)

I didn’t realize that Rusty was struggling until we got these mats 😭 Rusty is estimated to be about 2 years old and I’ve always associated yoga mats around the house as a senior dog thing - well I was totally WRONG.

Since we adopted Rusty he has packed his food from his bowl to our treadmill to eat 😅 I didn’t think it was too weird and never mentioned it to our amazing trainer because I didn’t think it was a problem… well the second we rolled out this mat to measure it for his eating area, he hopped on and ate his ENTIRE meal in one place 😱 Now he eats all of his meals in one place, on his mat. I never realized how much he needed something like this.

We now have these all over the house and I’ve been using one as a yoga mat as I’ve been needing a new one and it’s PERFECT!! At $2.20 a foot it is a steal!
