Memorial Day is more than a long weekend or the beginning of summer it is a moment to reflect on sacrifice, courage, and the cost of freedom. Every white marker represents a life, a family, a story, and a legacy that deserves to be remembered.

As we spend time with loved ones today, may we also hold space in our hearts for those who never made it home, and for the families who continue to carry their memory.

Honor them.
Remember them.
Never take their sacrifice for granted.

Today I want to share the story behind one of my latest paintings titled Mardi Gras (22 x 30).

This piece was born from the kind of night that feels bigger than time. Not a quiet night, but a deep velvet darkness where the air is alive with rhythm, movement, and mystery. In my mind, Mardi Gras is not just a celebration. It is a spirit. It is a moment when the world becomes music first and logic second.

The dark background represents the night itself. It is bold, endless, and full of energy. The sweeping strokes of teal and blue are the parade moving through the streets like drums you can feel in your chest. The purple throughout the piece represents royalty, tradition, and the magic that lives beneath the surface when people come together in joy.

And the gold that explodes across the canvas is the part I love the most. It is the confetti of the universe. It is what happens when the soul finally releases what it has been holding and chooses celebration anyway. It is the reminder that sometimes joy is not something we wait for. Sometimes joy is something we create.

This painting is about transformation. It is about that rare moment when you are allowed to be free, when you are allowed to become someone new, even if only for one night. And when the music fades and the parade passes, something still remains behind. A trace. A shimmer. A blessing.

That is what Mardi Gras means to me.

Titan: Glenn’s Galaxy is a personal cosmos suspended in motion, a universe born from inner gravity rather than distant stars. Deep emerald and shadowed teal form the vastness of space, while eruptions of red, gold, violet, and electric blue scatter across the surface like stellar birth and collapse happening at once. This galaxy is not orderly or silent. It pulses with memory, emotion, and lived experience.

At its center, layers of color collide and disperse, suggesting a core that is constantly forming, breaking apart, and reforming. Flecks of light drift like cosmic dust, remnants of moments that once burned bright and still travel outward, touching everything they pass.

Sweeping strokes feel like celestial currents, carrying fragments of thought, resilience, and imagination through an endless expanse.

This is Glenn’s Galaxy not a place observed from afar, but one inhabited. It represents the vast inner universe each person carries, where chaos and beauty coexist, where darkness is not empty but fertile, and where every spark has meaning.

Titan stands as a declaration that even within the unknown, there is motion, creation, and a quiet assurance that something powerful is always unfolding.
