On our trip to Yellowstone, we chose to stay inside the park—one of the best decisions we made. It gave us the chance to experience Yellowstone without the usual crowds. That evening, the sky offered a beautiful alignment: a crescent moon, Venus, Jupiter, and Mercury. As luck would have it, I was able to capture Old Faithful erupting at sunset, framed by the crescent moon and Venus.

The second photo was taken after Old Faithful’s eruption, in the final glow of sunset. The moon is a little easier to see here, with Venus closest to it and Jupiter below. We tried to spot Mercury, but we think it slipped behind the distant ridgeline. Best of all, my husband and I were the only people left on the boardwalk. Heaven!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend! This photo was taken along the shore of String Lake in Grand Teton National Park, just a couple of hours before sunset. The landscape was so intensely green it felt almost surreal.

In high school art class, we were assigned to choose a picture from a magazine and recreate it with colored pencils. I selected an image of the Yellowstone River winding through Yellowstone’s Hayden Valley. I never imagined that, many years later, I would be fortunate enough to capture the same beauty through another medium.

Picture this: you’re stopped on the side of a mountain, trying to take a picture of a bighorn sheep across the road while still in your vehicle. There’s a guardrail in the way, and you’re asking your husband to lean back just enough so you can frame the shot without the side mirror or him. The sheep refuses to look your way—until suddenly, it strikes a pose and almost seems to smile. I think he’s done this before! Hope you’re having a great weekend!

In June, we took a trip through Yellowstone and Grand Teton, and I managed to squeeze in a few quick photo stops along the way. This was one of them—and for once, it wasn’t taken from a moving car! According to the sign, this striking volcanic rock formation is known as the Holy City, located along the Buffalo Bill Cody Scenic Byway between Cody and Yellowstone’s east entrance.

I usually seem to get either cloudless skies or a sky completely socked in, but here the clouds parted just long enough to let the light spill across the walls. Sometimes the quick stops turn out to be the most memorable.

These hot summer days have me dreaming of crisp fall mornings. I snapped this view on a bridge over the North Platte River, and it’s a good reminder that cooler days are on the way. Hope you’re enjoying the weekend!

It’s been a while since my last post — I hope everyone’s having a great summer so far.
I took this shot last summer from the car while we were trying to stay ahead of a storm. And, of course, I couldn’t resist a good windmill.

I was lucky enough to experience this moment firsthand. You didn’t see the hike it took to get here or know how uncertain I was that the sky would even show up—whether it would light up or fade away. But through photography, you get to share a piece of that moment with me. How incredible is that?
