The sign out front gets your attention. The people inside build the reputation.

These photos are about more than fresh cuts, hot pizza, and barbecue smoke. They’re about the people who open the doors, fire up the equipment, serve their neighbors, and keep their communities moving.

That’s what I love about small business storytelling. The best stories are already happening every day. Sometimes they just need someone there to capture them.

Every booth has two things: something worth seeing and someone worth meeting.

While photographing the Neighborhood Flea at SouthSide Works, I made time to capture portraits of some of the vendors in front of the businesses they brought to life.

The products may get people to stop, but the people behind them are what make these markets special. Artists, makers, collectors, and small business owners showing up, setting up, and putting their work out into the world.

A good event gallery should capture more than the crowd. It should introduce you to the people who made the day worth showing up for.

AI images are pretty incredible.
But there’s still something about a good old-fashioned headshot.

I spent some time at Pitt Education photographing students and staff. Some needed a professional photo for LinkedIn. Others were photographed for the school’s website and future marketing.

Either way, the goal was simple: make people feel comfortable and capture them as they really are.

A good headshot doesn’t need to reinvent you. It should feel honest, confident, and look like you on your best day.

Part market. Part treasure hunt. Part reminder that Pittsburgh has some seriously creative people.

A few favorites from an event photoshoot at the Neighborhood Flea in Schenley Plaza.

Events like this bring local artists, vintage sellers, small businesses, and the community together in one place. There’s always something interesting to discover, and usually a good story behind whoever made it, found it, or brought it back to life.

My job was to capture that energy: the people, the conversations, the colorful booths, and those little moments that make you wish you had been there.

What does it look like when a photoshoot becomes part of an entire rebrand?

I created these images for Terravive at Balvanera in Pittsburgh’s Strip District.

The goal was to show the human side of foodservice- the chefs, the craft, and the people using these products every day.

Terravive’s compostable foodservice disposables are designed to be worthy of the food they hold. This shoot took that idea one step further: creating products worthy of the chefs who make it.

The images became part of Terravive’s new website, product catalog, and larger rebrand that I’ve been working on over the past several months.

This is the kind of project I love.
Photography created with a clear purpose and built into a bigger brand strategy.
