Don’t be a dusty. As a photographer whenever I get a “dusty dad” it effects everyone the kids start acting out, it stress out Mom, and makes taking the photos more difficult. Taking photos may not be your favorite thing but it’s at most an hour of your time. Your significant other wants a nice photo of your family, to show how much your family has grown and photos to look back at how little the kids were. With you acting up they will only remember how difficult it was and how you made them feel. You don’t even have to be a dope dad just go along smile for the photos and don’t say anything negative it’s not hard to do.

Now on the opposite side, I have seen a lot of dope dads. I wanna say THANK YOU! These photoshoots turn out the best! I can tell that you are understanding of your significant other and your attitude reflects onto your kids, creating a wholesome and loving atmosphere perfect for great family photos.

Well, I have been MIA on posting my projects, but I have been anything but with graphic design and photography. It truly has been a wonderful 2023 and for my goal for 2024 is to post more here. So I’ll begin with sharing some projects I did within the last year.

My husband and I like to do goofy Christmas cards each year for the 2023 season we did a little nod to “Home Alone 2” movie within a movie (if you know you know 😉)

so I wanted to show the steps on making our epic card. First go to old town and find a wall that looks good for a 1920s gangster backdrop. Second dress up, (Do this on Halloween, you’ll get less people giving you weird looks). Third take self portrait photo with self timer camera.(note run fast and get into position before timer goes off.) Fourth, edit photo to look like it’s from the 1920s and add anything that needs to be added because you couldn’t find it at the costume store. (don’t forget to adjust said prop’s lighting to match the lighting of the photograph, add shadows to make it more realistic, you want people to think that you had the prop with you). Fifth design card.(note, in past years, you have made your own graphics, but you may be running out of time, so it’s OK if you need to get a stock graphic to embellish your card, there is no shame… tell yourself, a graphic designer, that it’s OK… It’s OK right?😥) Sixth print out and mail out cards. Hoping people get your joke.

I think spring has finally decided to stay! when I was designing this logo for a fellow photographer, it was cold outside, and it really made me wish for spring! Now that my own red tulips are starting to bloom, I knew, that spring has finally sprung! Check out Emily Chatterton Photography and her awesome work!
