Photos that probably don’t make sense to you are my favorite part of being a photographer and I know how weird that sounds. Let me explain:

There are countless things about you, your relationship and your life that make you unique and special. Things that the average person won’t know. Which means that when we spend time together, and you tell me your stories, you let me in on these little quirks.

As a viewer, you don’t know that R and T have lived on this lake for YEARS and that they are about to move to start their life together. You don’t know all the memories they’ve had on this lake, in this boat. You don’t know the story behind the boats name. You don’t know the experience we had.

And as I learn about you, I also start to capture things that will be meaningful to you. Things that aren’t on people’s inspiration boards, things that the Instagram algorithm won’t care about.

But I hope you don’t hire me to re create someone else’s photos. I hope you hire me to document something better. I hope you hire me to document you.

There is something indescribable abut documenting rather than posing. We all know the "What do I do with my hands?!" feeling... but truth be told, if you were just hanging out and enjoying each other's company, you wouldn't be thinking that.

When was the last time you reinvented yourself?

In the middle of this wedding season, it hit me... I wasn't creating images that I love. I was suck in the rut of how I learned to edit. You'll be seeing some past sessions I've done, with a new twist. I've added the vibe that inspired me to pick up my camera in the first place.

One day you will suck so little that you will actually be good. ---> It was never my intention to be a photographer.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The plan was to do all the back-end things that make your experience amazing and to hire someone else to be the face. I wanted to hide in my comfort zone. BUT, after what felt like a million twists and turns I somehow ended up as a photographer. And it turns out I'm OBSESSED.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You always start out inexperienced and under qualified. No one starts out as a pro. Michael Jordan had to shoot his first hoop, Obama had to give his first speech as a politician and if you keep showing up, one day you will suck so little that you will actually be good.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I would encourage you to explore the idea that perhaps feeling like an imposter means that you are onto something good... perhaps feeling like an imposter means it's the perfect time to JUMP. 🤗
