If you only want your photos when you win- I get it.
I don't have a single professional photo of myself doing jiu jitsu (yet!). But I have a ton from my years as a competitive runner. Some of them stung when I first saw them. I saved them anyway and forgot about them.
Now I show them to my toddler. And I am so thankful I have every single one- the strong moments and the hard ones. The finishes I'm proud of and the races I'd rather forget. It's all part of the story.
You put in the work. You showed up. That is part of the story whether the ref raises your hand or not. Speaking from personal experience and over two decades of competition myself- on both local and national stages, you're going to want the photos. Even if it's just from an iphone at the end of the day.
Also- one day if we are blessed to make it, we will be 80 years old, still training and really love having the photos of our youth.
