Sand wasps are so cool! I’ve seen them before but only briefly. This one was having an especially long moment with this thistle and it gave me an opportunity to really look. Check out those eyes?

Hello, little hover fly. My mustard greens bolted and I’m not even sad about it because it gives me a perfect place to observe all of the little (really little) varieties of pollinators.
