📣 A FEW IMPORTANT UPDATES FROM WILD + ROOTED

I’ve been trying to be lenient with booking deadlines and retainers, but unfortunately, that leniency has been taken advantage of one too many times.

So moving forward, I will be strictly enforcing my booking policies.

✨ If you do not intend to pay your retainer, please do not request to book a session. ✨

Your retainer is what officially secures your date and time. I cannot continue holding dates indefinitely while waiting for payment, especially when I have other clients who are ready to book.

Going forward:

• Your retainer is due at the time of booking.
• Your contract must be signed.
• Once I send your booking link, you will have 24 hours to complete both requirements.
• If your retainer has not been paid AND your contract has not been signed within 24 hours, your session will be canceled and the date will be released.

This isn’t meant to be harsh — it’s simply me putting the boundaries in place for my business that I should have been enforcing all along. 🤎

You are reserving my time, my preparation, and a specific spot on my calendar, and I need to be able to count on those bookings just as you count on me showing up for your session.

🤍 A NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY UPDATE

I’ve also made the decision to no longer offer posed/studio-style newborn photography.

I want to be completely transparent about why.

I do not currently have a dedicated studio space, and I have not taken the specialized training/classes necessary to safely perform traditional posed newborn sessions.

And when it comes to those tiny little babes, I will never risk their safety just to offer a type of photography that I’m not properly equipped or trained to provide. Their safety will always come first. 🤍

That does NOT mean I’m done photographing newborns!

I will happily continue offering lifestyle newborn sessions — natural, relaxed, connection-focused images in your home or another comfortable environment. These sessions are much more aligned with the type of storytelling photography I love and the experience I want to provide for your family.

So, moving forward:

🤍 Lifestyle newborns — YES!
🤍 Fresh 48 — YES!
🤍 Maternity — YES!
🤍 Families & milestones — YES!
🚫 Posed/studio-style newborns — NO

I’m always going to choose safety, honesty, and quality of experience over trying to offer everything.

Alright yall.. I feel this needs to be talked about.. because I feel like in the photography world “if your prices are cheap you’re not good” or “you’re ruining the industry for expensive photographers..”
which isn’t what I’m trying to do at all BUTTTTT
There’s something I’ve been told a lot lately: “You need to raise your prices.”
I’ve had folks tell me my work is comparable to photographers charging $300–$500+ for MINIS. 😱

And honestly?
Could I charge more? Absolutely.
But I don’t want to. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Because Wild + Rooted was never created to be about charging the most I possibly can. It was created because I believe beautiful photography should be accessible to everyone. 🤎

The number of times I’ve had a mama thank me for making professional photos possible for her family, especially when money is tight, means more to me than I can explain. And that is exactly why I do what I do.

I grew up poor. Professional photos simply weren’t something my family could afford. I was so incredibly lucky that we won a giveaway for my senior photos. And when I was pregnant with my first baby? My maternity photos were taken by my friend… on an iPhone. 😂🤎 Shout out to Kali🫶🏼 ANDDDD There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. Those photos are still precious to me.

But I also know what it feels like to want beautiful, professional photos and wonder if you can actually afford them. I don’t want families to have to scrape by just to document their lives.

That’s why I offer affordable packages, payment plans, and sliding-scale options whenever I can.

So yes, maybe my prices are considered “cheap” compared to some photographers.

But please know this: It is NOT because my work is lacking.

I’ve spent the last 10 years learning, practicing, investing in my craft, and growing as a photographer. I love what I do, and I’m incredibly proud of the work I create.

My pricing is a choice. 🤎

I choose accessibility.
I choose community.
I choose making room for the family who thought professional photos were out of reach.

Because I believe everyone deserves to have beautiful photographs of the people they love. So if you’ve been wanting photos but thought they were out of your budget, please reach out. 🫶🏼
