We all start somewhere, and trust me… I made plenty of mistakes when I first wanted to get into food and product photography. The good news? You don’t have to make the same ones because I’m going to share what i’ve learned 😉

Less is more.
You don’t need an expensive camera or a studio full of equipment to create great product photos. Learn to get the most out of what you already have.

Experiment constantly.
Some of your biggest breakthroughs will come from trying something that doesn’t work. Every shoot teaches you something.

Practice. Practice. Practice.
The best way to improve isn’t buying more gear. It’s picking up your camera and shooting consistently.

Learn light before you buy gear.
Understanding natural and artificial light will improve your photos far more than the latest lens or accessory.

Focus on ONE skill at a time.
Master composition. Then lighting. Then styling. Then editing. Small improvements stack up faster than trying to learn everything at once.

Every great photographer started as a beginner. Keep creating, keep learning, and above all..DON’T BE AFRAID TO MAKE MISTAKES ALONG THE WAY. It doesn’t make you any less of a photographer.

I thought with a minimal setup i wouldnt be able to product anything close to what i was going for but boy was I wrong! These shots turned out WAY better than i anticipated and it was just the motivation i needed to continue.

I decided to use my personal favorite bottle of Three Crossed Apple Spiced Rum as a subject for this practice shoot.
