How I celebrated Local News Day from the top of an Arizona mountain, and why truth matters now more than ever:
After two major surgeries, I marked a personal milestone by taking my first hike up a mountain to an historic fire lookout. To me, this successful milestone was a powerful reminder of resilience, freedom, and the sacrifices made by the brave men and women of our armed forces who protect the liberties we cherish under our Constitution.
That journey also reinforced something deeply personal: when challenges feel too great, the key is to believe in yourself, take small steps, and pace yourself. With dedication, determination, and faith in the path ahead, even the steepest climbs can lead to extraordinary views.
It also reminded me why local news, especially small independent journalism, matters so deeply.
As the founder of a woman owned, local media organization in my community, and the only one to participate in Local News Day, I am deeply committed to serving Arizona’s newest city, San Tan Valley, alongside Queen Creek and the San Tan Region as a whole, with integrity, freedom of speech, freedom of the press, and an unwavering dedication to truth.
I do not answer to advertisers, shareholders, popularity, or follower counts. My allegiance is not to profit or influence, but to the people I serve and the truth that deserves to be told.
Small independent journalists matter because we often stand where larger outlets cannot or will not: closer to the people, closer to the stories, and closer to the heartbeat of the communities we serve. We ask hard questions, preserve local history, amplify overlooked voices, and report not for profit, but for purpose.
Through True Nature Media, I believe our communities deserve journalism rooted in authenticity, accountability, and courage. In a world too often driven by dollars and influence, independent local journalism helps protect freedom, preserve truth, and strengthen the very foundation of our future.
This is only the beginning. Big things are ahead, and I cannot wait to share them with you.
