Outdoor interview lighting doesn’t have to be complicated.

A lot of you asked what I use in my interview setup, and it’s the Smith-Victor Reflector Holder Arm. I pair it with a regular light stand, clip my diffuser in, and I’m ready to shoot.

Behind the scenes of today’s wedding interview setup.

For this setup we’re filming on the Sony FX3 paired with a 50mm lens, capturing clean dialogue with the Sennheiser NTG3 running into the Tascam FR-AV2. We also added diffusion to soften the harsh afternoon sun and keep the interview looking natural.

These wedding day interviews become the foundation of our documentary wedding films. They’re what help tell the story through real voices, not just visuals.

Yesterday was one of those reminders of why I love being part of the wedding industry.

So grateful to have been a part of this year’s Summer Showcase at Heights House Weddings | Raleigh Wedding Venue and to create content for such an incredible event. Every detail was thoughtfully designed, every space felt inspiring, and it was amazing connecting with so many talented creatives who all care deeply about creating unforgettable experiences for couples.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by the Stay Visual Productions table, shared conversations, and made the afternoon so much fun. It was great meeting new faces, reconnecting with familiar ones, and seeing so many couples excited for what’s ahead.
