This is my penultimate (learned that word at Carolina, maybe?) post from Dory and Kevin's wedding. I could keep going because their wedding day felt like one continuous visual...will remark on that in my final share. Happy Thursday, friends.

I hope I do these moments and words justice. Parents think about these minutes with the microphone for years...at least I have, and our kiddo is seven. But I still wonder what it would be like to share perspective as a parent, looking back but also ahead. I've given toasts as a friend, and those are special as well. Cheers to all:).

The party begins. When you reach the point in the wedding day/evening when the ties are loosened, heels perhaps swapped for dancing shoes, and food/drink are shared with deeply personal toasts and dances (next post), and then the party...I'll be tidy on words. But this is always a unique chapter of the day's story to photograph. A few more shares to come, what a wonderful experience documenting for Dory and Kevin. Happy Friday, friends.

Ah, the window between ceremony ending and newlyweds arriving at cocktail/social time. Generally speaking, this is likely the most 'everyone needs efficiency' segment of a wedding day as a photog; the reception timeline waits, and the couple is oftentimes very eager to get to their family and friends. Dory and Kevin brilliantly split up the group shots (some beforehand) because they had a first look, making this transition from ceremony to party very laid back and smooth. There is a method, my friends. Happy Wednesday, all.

One more share of my friends and their pride and joy. Like the rest of you, I'm no expert when it comes to parenting - I do the very best I can, and at day's end more often than not I wish I had done this or that differently or better. Every stage is a journey, and during each chapter they need our guidance, help, and love. I'm reminded of that when taking photographs of newborns and their parents all the way to families for holiday cards, high school seniors, brides dancing with fathers. And we always grow with them. Happy Tuesday, friends.

Documentation via observation, essential and obvious with event photography, but one of my favorite windows of time during a wedding day. I think of these visuals as somewhat 'experiential,' for lack of a more dramatic term; beating my drum repeatedly, but the hope being that years and decades of viewing these photos will place the bride and groom (and others) back in these moments with friends and family. From a nerd standpoint, I have always appreciated layering - in a few of these the subjects are subtly tiered in between other guests, adding a little sprinkle of 'being there.' More to come. Happy Wednesday, friends.

I must make a few more shares of my time with these wonderful people. Flattered to have documented their significant moments over the last 4+ years, and also deeply appreciative of the incredible natural lighting in their den:). Happy Monday, friends.

My last post of a remarkable, genuine, heartfelt ceremony - I'd like to reiterate what a privilege it is to be asked to photograph such moments...on the timeline of your life, your wedding ceremony in and of itself is a blink, perhaps 20 minutes where such consequence takes place, with your family and friends present, and the beginning of life's next chapter. That is A LOT squeezed into a small time frame, and it really is an honor to be there observing and documenting. Most of us forget a lot of our wedding details, so many emotions and such significance...it's a treat to be asked to soak up those feelings and twinkles of time for lasting, lifelong preservation. Happy Friday, friends.

Ceremony continued. Wish I had words to keep describing how great it was, but I remind myself I was there for the documentation, let the photos attempt the storytelling. Happy Wednesday, friends.
