Wow!!! Great night to shoot motorcross.
Been a minute since I did night time action shots. Here are a few for your enjoyment…some better shots on my Smugmug link below.

Side note, shooting action in bright sunlight is easy…add low lighting and it becomes a lot more challenging. Direction of the light, shadows, dust, the exhaust fumes all become partners to the composition. Daytime shots miss these nuances that make for a totally different kind of shoot.
Most shots using a Nikon D6 with a 28-70 2.8 lens. Additional shots with a D500 with a 200-500mm 5.6 lens for you camera geeks out there. Mostly shot with ISO 12500 in Shutter priority set between 1/500-1/600 sec. Continuous auto focus in high speed capture. Culled about 2500 images down to about 600.

Thanks Waco Eagles MX and Sarah Bergeron for letting me out on the track!

Creating a few poster samples for a motocross photo I took a couple of months ago at Waco Eagles MX. Yes, I did use a small amount of AI for ideas but mostly graphics created in Photoshop and Illustrator.
What’s your favorite?

Basement Benny, the Future is Now!
A Georgetown Multimedia short.
I created the images using artificial intelligence prompts in a progression for this video. The music is also AI created. I used Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Pro for the editing.

Underwater Photography - Bonaire
Shooting underwater has its own set of challenges.
Blessed to spend a week with my dive partner Ki!
We were able to get 20 dives in 6 days.
Our recent dive trip in February really started me on a journey to look closer at the marine life…study the habitats and find hiding spots. Up until this trip, I had never photographed Octopus or Sea Horses. We both set our intentions on this as well as other encounters. Photographed two Octopi on two separate dives on the same day. Also found a yellow Sea Horse in the middle of nowhere. Although we have encountered Squid on one occasion, they never let us get too close…encountered squid 3 times and was able to even get a couple of them hunting.
Lots of eels and turtles as well.
One additional encounter was a nudibranch. They are as hard to find as sea horses. The one pictured looks more like a caterpillar with white flowers. There are also garden eels, sea snakes and a couple of arrow crabs and tiny shrimp.
So at 62, I’ve completed 62 dives for the year…and witnessed God’s creations as only a dive in the ocean permits.

Last photo…grumpy coral, lol

Black light Photo Booth setup and 60’s themed party - Behind the scenes

This past weekend, I put together a birthday party for my wife’s 60th birthday. 60 guests for a 60’s theme party. Aside from an almost total makeover of our backyard over the past month, I decorated the house to fit the theme.
We had what I like to call our Hippy Room, complete with blacklights and blacklight posters with a large tapestry set up as a background for a 60s photo booth. The challenge of lighting was what can I say..”a Challenge”. Balancing the glow of the background with white light so it all worked together. Adding a template to make the images unique while keeping to the 60s theme.
Party favors included ‘John Lennon’ round sunglasses in various colors, hair flowers and groovy buttons. Although costumes were optional, many showed up like something you might have seen at Woodstock.
What was supposed to be a surprise party turned out to be found out by Ki a couple if weeks before the party…but, she still didn’t know the theme until the party had already started. Hard to keep a secret when so much activity was going on. Especially after I kicked her out of her office for two days.
Lots of excitement and dancing to the tunes of the Decades Band. A little warmer than I would have liked but plenty of cold drinks to go around.
Celebrating Ki’s birthday was only enhanced by all of the great friends and family in attendance.
Happy 60th birthday Sexy!!

Waco Eagles Motorcycle event - May 17
Just a few of the 900+ edited images shot on Sunday. I was absolutely amazed at how young some of these riders are. They looked more like Bobble-Heads. I also liked shooting the pre-2000 Vintage motorcycles. There are guys in their 70s out there riding and tearing up the heavily wooded track. At times, they were whipping past me about 2 feet away…the smell of gasoline heavy in the air. Speaking of air, some of these riders got some good air time on their jumps.

As a photographer, I really like shooting action.
Yes, I also shoot a wide variety of imagery from portraits, weddings, still life, commercial as well as video work doing documentaries and advertisements.
If you are in need of a professional photographer, videographer or graphics illustrator, reach out to me for consultation. You can also see my work here:

Next time someone tells you it will take two weeks to process all the imagery they shot of your event, I was able to look through about 2500 images, crop/edit almost 1000 of those in about 8 hours. This comes with 35+ years of experience.

Just me monkeying around in 2015.
I took 4 photos and did a little Photoshop magic…

Psychology 101

If you start with a cage containing four monkeys, and inside the cage hang
a banana on a string from the top, and then you place a set of
stairs under the banana, before long a monkey will go to the stairs and climb toward the banana.

ALL the monkeys are sprayed with cold water. After a while, another monkey makes an attempt with same result -- As soon as he touches the stairs, you spray ALL the monkeys with cold water. Pretty soon, when another monkey tries to climb the stairs, the other monkeys will try to prevent it.

Now, put the cold water away. Remove one monkey from the cage and replace it with a new monkey. The new monkey sees the banana and
attempts to climb the stairs. To his shock, ALL of the other monkeys beat the crap out of him. After another attempt and attack, he knows
that if he tries to climb the stairs he will be assaulted.

Next, remove another of the original four monkeys, replacing it with a new monkey. The newcomer goes to the stairs and is attacked. The
previous newcomer takes part in the punishment â with enthusiasm -- because he is now part of the "team".

Then, replace a third original monkey with a new monkey, followed by the fourth. Every time the newest monkey takes to the stairs, he is attacked.

Now, the monkeys that are beating him up have no idea why they were not permitted to climb the stairs. Neither do they know whythey are
participating in the beating of the newest monkey.

Finally, having replaced all of the original monkeys, none of the remaining monkeys will have ever been sprayed with cold water.
Nevertheless, not one of the monkeys will try to climb the stairway for the banana. Why, you ask? Because in their minds, that is the way it has always been!

This is how today's House and Senate operates; and this is why, from time to time, ALL of the monkeys need to be REPLACED AT THE SAME TIME!

Disclaimer: This is meant as no disrespect to monkeys.
