There was a time I wasn’t sure this would be my story.

A time when motherhood felt more like a hope than a certainty.

Now she’s 11.

She’s taller than I want her to be, funnier than she realizes, and somehow growing up faster every year.

And every once in a while I still catch myself looking at her and thinking,

“I can’t believe I get to be your mom.”

I don’t take that feeling for granted.

Not now.

One of my favorite things about photographing families is that I’m rarely photographing the big milestones.

Most of the time, I’m documenting the ordinary things that won’t feel ordinary years from now.

The first steps.

The oversized bows.

The grass stains.

The hand they still reach for without thinking.

The little habits and personalities that make up a season of family life.

Those are usually the photographs parents come back to years later.

Not because everything was perfect.

Because everything was changing.

What age are your children right now?

Maybe it’s just me, but I think a lot of us are craving the same thing right now.Less clutter.Less pressure.Less feeling...

Maybe it’s just me, but I think a lot of us are craving the same thing right now.

Less clutter.

Less pressure.

Less feeling like we have to get everything perfect.

More meaning.

More breathing room.

More reminders of the people we love.

The homes I remember most aren’t the most expensive or the most perfectly decorated.

They’re the ones with family photos on the walls, albums on the shelves, and little pieces of a family’s story tucked into every room.

Honestly, that’s probably why I love what I do so much.
