As the strike by correction officers at Albion and Orleans Correctional Facilities enters its fourth day, Governor Kathy Hochul has mobilized over 3,500 National Guard troops to assist with prison operations and maintain order. This action comes in response to work stoppages at approximately 30 state prisons, including those in Albion, where correction officers are protesting unsafe working conditions, staffing shortages, and mandatory overtime. The National Guard’s deployment aims to ensure the safety and security of both staff and incarcerated individuals during this period of unrest.
