Today has kind of been an emotional roller coaster for me. I traveled up to Bogus Basin for what could possibly be the last photo session I ever do for a family. They won this session earlier this last year and I could not turn them down.

It's funny when I look at these because for me to have a winter session be the last one I ever do- is kinda interesting to me. Winter has never been my strong suit. Winter was always my nemesis. I am really trying to get better at that. And this shows that not only have I gotten better, but I have conquered that thing that is winter.

The little girls, whom we deemed the "pink team", were absolutely in their element. And did they spend a ton of time doing the activity? No. Testament to mom because when they said they were done, she let them be done. And this was barely 20 minutes into this activity. This session ended up being a ton shorter than a normal session but that was ok because the girls were, in fact, done.

And so am I.
Hopefully, my photos will live on in the families that appreciated them over the years.

I need some help!

I am awful with coming up with names and I would love some suggestions.

My new business venture is in the works in my mind. What I’d like to offer is a women’s retreat in the summer (and possibly one in the winter) where they get pampered with massages, a local hiking adventure and all in the mountains. Introspective meditation time, journaling - and more. This will all take place in a location in the mountains. (I already have my summer location set.)

I would also like to become a certified yoga instructor and hold classes in the park or in places that are in nature in general.

What would you call a business that did these things? I would love to include something about ‘nature’ or ‘wilderness’ or the like in the name. ‘Peace’ things like that.

What would you call it? Help a girl out!

Ever since I was a child, I have been a bit of a free spirit. I really like to go with the flow and not be too strict with myself.

Sifting through the memories of my life, I can see where I drifted away from this ability to be a free spirit. Parts of middle school, high school and even college, I seemed to lose this in myself more and more.

As I get older, I’m learning how to bring that part of me back. And that it’s how I deal with things, especially in the hard times, that truly defines who I am.

It is with a very heavy heart that I write this email (post, newsletter, wherever you are reading it…).

Recently it has been brought to my attention that parts of my business are not exactly legal. And while I had zero idea I wasn’t following the law, I also don’t want to continue doing business if I can’t do it in the manner I want. You see, another thing I’m learning as I get older is that if something doesn’t bring me joy, I don’t want any part in it. So me changing my business model (and the way I do my photography) is just not an option for me.

So this is the part where I tell you I’m closing my business down. I won’t get into specifics as I don’t feel it’s important, but just know that I am making the right decision for me and I am excited for the next chapter of my life.

This is not good bye forever. I have big plans that are waiting to unfold. They just need time to grow.

Thank you for being a loyal reader, and if you got this far, a loyal friend. While I’m sad this day has come, I’m also happy for future possibilities. I’m excited to bring out my free spirit again and have some fun.

What a fantastic weekend.

Maybe my favorite Alpine Lake so far. Bench Lakes with some amazing ladies this weekend.

We had to detour from Hell roaring due to a fire on the other side of the lake- but these ladies were champs and we had a great time.

I just got back from my very first ladies only backpacking photo trip.

Let me start by saying two people canceled last minute (for good reasons) but I think it was meant to be.

I helped these ladies navigate through the wilderness, I cooked for them, helped them set up camp, and I took their photos throughout the last three days.

It was surely an adventure I won’t ever forget. I learned so much and this will only make my future trips that much better!

If you want to sign up for my email list to get notified about these trips in the future, comment ‘yes’ below and I will send you a DM!

As usual I’m flabbergasted at the work I get to showcase to families. When both parents are excited it’s their first time where the kids aren’t in a play pen at the bottom of the rock wall- it’s memorable not just for them but for the kids (even though they don’t realize it yet). Not having to chase them around and be over them so both adults can still have some quality time. This is the history of the family.

And check out this little girl. She was rockin’ it today. Absolutely rockin’ it.

Would you travel here?

If you haven’t heard, I’ve started organizing women only, photography backpacking trips for small intimate groups. This idea came about rather suddenly and when I started inquiring amongst women for some spur-of-the-moment trips this year, the response was overwhelming to say the least.

Within two days, I had three trips filled and paid for. It was rather exciting to be honest, to think that people wanted me to take them out on a backpacking trip and have the added luxury of me photographing it for them.

This photo (that I didn’t take btw) is one of a trip I may just plan next spring, which to be honest seems so far away. But now that I’m looking at these trips, I can’t stop.

Would you go here and let me photograph you and some new friends? Comment ‘yes’ if so!
