Fits and Stops Photography Striking photography + videography for hopeless romantics. Weddings • Engagements • Portraits I’m P.J. Which begat a photography blog. Crikey!

Oswald, and I’m a wedding photographer because of the joy I get out of documenting the advance of love. But hey, I also love capturing engagement photography and family photography as well. Buying our family’s first camera sparked my love of photography. Which transformed into a full-service photography business. My adventures in photography have led me to Indian weddings, to landscapes in the Sco

ttish highlands, to high desert mountain biking trails of Utah, to government offices, and into the urban heart of Sacramento. Who would have expected this? I bring a homegrown eye for crystal clear photography with technical shooting and post-production know-how. I design some truly beautiful albums to remember life’s greatest milestones and people. And I've rounded up second photographers and videographers to bring a complete storytelling team to your wedding. We deliver the care and service you’d expect from old friends. Give me a call at 916.281.9616 and let’s plan out your session or event!

Believe it or not, there are some wedding days where you won't find me covered in cameras.

At this glorious spring wedding for my friends Makiyah and Arkadiy, I played officiant rather than photographer. Though I've probably officiated 10 weddings now, every single time it is downright humbling to share about the ridiculous love of God, and how a marriage can thrive when lived his way.

So there in front of the pond at , my friends pledged their very lives to each other. Wow.

It's the most challenging promise to keep, and the most singular love you can offer. It's reserving the best of yourself for the one you marry.

You enter together into marriage with great intentions, deep emotion . . . and plenty of naivete. I mean, how can you possibly predict the dizzying heights and terrible lows you'll face together over the years? How can you really offer an entire lifetime of friendship, loyalty, support, and romance to someone?

I married the most incredible woman in any time zone and still I struggle to answer these questions.

But I've got to believe that putting the needs of the one you marry above your own is the recipe for a marriage that endures and delights.

An impossible task? Maybe.

But what's impossible with us is possible with God.

So as I trade my suit and tie for cameras at your wedding, know that I'm cheering you on as you start something amazing.

"It’s not the flowers, it’s the weeding in the mud with you.
It’s not the champagne, it’s the cuppa in the favourite mug you use.
It’s not the dreaming, it’s the waking up with you,
I want to be here long enough to gather dust with you.

It’s the small amounts that mounds and mounds like mountains,
The steady thud of my heart, always for you.
It’s the ordinary magic, the quiet certainty,
That in every breath, I’m still yours.

We’ve built this love not in the spark of first meeting,
But in the lifetime woven around it.
It’s the comfort of shared silence,
The laughter that spills over the table,
The way you know me before I speak.

And when the years have passed,
When the world has changed its shape,
I’ll still be here,
Gathering dust beside you,
Forever yours."

"Dust", By Harry Baker

Congratulations to you, Dalyn and Nick, on a grand day in the Tahoe National Forest. The sights, sounds, and feelings were all amazing--and I pray that is true of all the years ahead of you.

Putting up with me means swapping stories.

I want to hear who you are, what makes you tick, where you've been, and how you make it happen.

I'm the guy at the party who'll get lost in conversation with just one or two people. I'm not a fan of small talk--just give me your life story, you know. (Forgive me!)

So consider these images the latest part of my story, during my family's recent travels to Spain.

My wife fell in love with Spain years ago and has been trying to get us all across the Atlantic to soak it up ourselves. To her delight, Tenerife and Madrid hosted my extended family this summer, offering up both island surf and mainland turf to savor. It all made for late nights, lengthy dinners, and sunshine that wouldn't quit.

So now I'll never forget:

-Paella plates larger than any pizza
-Sending a little Audi A3 up skinny switchbacks
-That happening pier at Los Abrigos
-Dusting off my Spanish with patient strangers
-Sixth-floor and high mountain views
-The angst and mood of live Flamenco
-Slurping up chocolate long after the churros were gone

¡Hasta la próxima en este fantástico rincón del mundo!

This wedding was brought to you by Wolfe Heights Estates & Winery, parasols and fans, a foot washing ceremony, Porsche, The Sound of Music, soaring summer temperatures, a song written and performed by the bride, cake pops, and obviously, hearts beating out of their chests.

Okay, none of those things officially sponsored the wedding—but they made it unforgettable.

Emily and Tyler, you've had a beautiful (and theatrical) start to your relationship. And now you're making it a lifetime thing with the vows you offered to each other and to God.

May God bless all the years ahead of you!

Just a few sneak peeks, with video from our team to come soon . . .

Your engagement photo session should kick off one of the best date nights of your life.

I mean, you're getting dressed up for the occasion, maybe putting on a little makeup, even wearing a new piece of jewelry on that finger. And if you time things just right, you can even catch a bit of the sun setting.

Most of my couples tell me they're headed out for dinner after their session, too. A session with me can work up an appetite!

So what started with a bang can end with dinner and dancing after dark with your favorite person.
..And then you can make plans to view your new engagement photos together during your next date!

Oooh la la.

Do I get the world record for using the most hyphens in one caption? Dunno.

But I do know these two get the record for the most laughter in one wedding day.

Congratulations to you, Laura and Aaron, on taking the very best sort of plunge. You two are so very much at home together, and that'll be true no matter where you go. God is up to something special in your marriage!
