Based out of Sacramento, California, Denise Apgar Photography proudly serves the Northern California areas. However, with family in San Diego, Southern California shoots are always available. My story told by Denise Apgar - I am married to my better half! Seriously, he is my biggest supporter and makes me strive to be a better person. We have two beautiful little girls and another one on the way!

I love to travel and learn about the different people and cultures represented in this world. I have a Masters in Education and love to help people figure out their strengths and how to best utilize them. Therefore, teaching and mentoring are very close to my heart. I am a major introvert but have learned how to be extroverted, which is why attending concerts and sitting quietly in coffee shops are two of my favorite activities. Lastly, I am a firm believer of loving people as they are! I find joy and excitement in meeting new people and hearing their stories. I believe life if messy and hard, but at the same time offers a raw beauty that must be shared. I hope to connect with YOU, learn your story, and help document whatever special or hard moment of life you are experiencing.

After living the hospital for nearly three weeks, Katey and Kelly were so ready and eager to meet their baby! He came early but he came out strong and ready to cuddle his mamas! What an honor it was to meet him and freeze this fleeting season of life for K+K.

My last portrait session for 2025 has me feeling all the feels. OMG. I adore this family so much!

The Bolands love to hunt. Well, Eddie does. Lauren and Jane go along for the ride and go on adventures while dad does his thing 😆 So it made sense to have their maternity session in a place they have grown to love as a family. Their little escape and refuge from the every day! We explored a nature trail together in Colusa on a cloudy December day and made memories. No agenda. Just that! What an honor it’s been to have captured Lauren and Eddie’s engagement and wedding photos, and now their growing family. I can’t wait to meet their newest little one and get them in front of my camera again as a family of four!

I’m teaching an art lesson tomorrow on reflections, specifically why artists use them and how they can be found in nature. As I was creating the slides and exploring different art pieces, I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite images I’ve taken using reflections.

If there’s water or a mirror, you better believe I will try to find a way to snap a few reflection shots 🥹✨😍
