When you realize you match the art…
you take it home with you. 😆

Since it’s art made by my studio mate’s, I think that’s a really good sign that we get along. Even though it’s only been a few months of being in the same space.

The slow realization that we both were coordinating with the other’s art was a riot.
- Jill was drawn to a pair of painted paper earrings I made which happened to match her sweater.

I landed on a collage of Jill’s that I really liked, and then I realized, how much I was matching it that night!

Needless to say, we both went home with our new pieces.

Maybe this is a great filter for how all art should be purchased?😂

If you shop by color like me, pop into the studio to find a piece that matches you. I’ll be in the studio tomorrow, Saturday, February 14th from 5-8 pm.

- Jill’s small collages make a perfect gift. And, I’ve got a variety of light weight earrings available that are also a great idea for gift giving - like say Valentines day or a birthday, etc.

✨It’s happening! Bahiya’s exhibition, Modern Relics, is about to be installed at ARTHOUSE on R this coming week so we’re getting things ready.

🪧We are both super excited to see the vinyl lettering that will be the title signage on the wall that you can see in this video.😊

Please add it to your calendar to swing the opening reception on:
🎉 Saturday, October 11, 2025
⏰ 5-8pm
📍ARTHOUSE, 1021 R Street, Upstairs Gallery, Sacramento, CA

And, keep your fingers crossed that I get the lettering on the wall without a hitch. 🤩

During the last open studio/Second Saturday, an astute artist who was visiting noticed the blue hue in the shadows of this piece. (It turns out the blue cast is from one of the lights.)

1. Overall image of sculpture
2. Video focused on the shadow details and shapes
3. Detail showing the blueish shadow cast

I’ve always loved looking at the way shadows are cast from sculptural objects. After recently seeing the Ruth Asawa show at SFMOMA, it’s made me think about this aspect even more.

It feels like the shadows can be their own pieces and stand on their own at times. Their shapes are so different from the shape that’s casting them. For me, I t’s fun to look at.

And, looking at shadows ties back to a lot of my previous photography work with making photograms and glow-o-grams. -Always looking for the shapes in the shadows.

Do you notice shadows in art pieces? If you saw the Ruth Asawa show, what did you think about it?

It’s time for a very rare Spring Cleaning! 🧹 You’re invited to stop in on Saturday, April 26th from 10-4 pm, to see if any of the bargains are right for you!

📽️I’ll have art supplies like a canister of 16 mm film, big silk screens, and more available.🎨

Also on hand will be many older yet still interesting color, cameraless photographs available for purchase. These are rare and one-of-a-kind pieces made by hand by yours truly.

Honestly, it’ll be fun to have these out to look through so stop by if you’re curious. Most are 16”x20” so on the large side for a traditional photo. They’re mostly abstract.

Other artworks will be on sale, too.

Most of the resident artists at will also be open so stop by for this unique opportunity to visit the group sale. We don’t know when we’ll do it again.

Let me know what questions you have about the sale. It’s going to be fun. 🤩

PS: add it to your calendar now so you get a reminder. 🗓️

Thinking about the coming year has got me thinking about last year.

So I’m pausing to celebrate this fun thing that happened…

👩‍💻I was hired to write an article for one of my favorites, Uppercase Magazine!🎉

It was fun to share the way I think about peripheral vision and its impact on making my art which is what the article is about.

Note to self: when I’m thinking what should I post (cue deer in headlights moment🦌), maybe i can share more about that topic here in the future.💭

Last night during Second Saturday’s monthly open studio, I got asked, how did writing that article come about?

The short story is that I had a chance meeting with the publisher/editor/many hat wearer who puts this publication together.

✨But, it could have happened without that.

So you may be wondering, how can you get in Uppercase, or any magazine?

Here’s the answer. They take submissions. All magazines take submissions.

👉🏼They need content. What you do is cool and interesting content. Submit your art or idea to see if it’s a fit for the content they need.

It’s that easy. Yep.

Uppercase is rad and I’ve been a buyer and subscriber long before this happened. If you want to buy a copy or a subscription to get a regular dose of inspiration, dm me for a 15% off code (not an affiliate, just a fan).
