On December 16th my entire life shifted when I heard the words “you have lung cancer” followed by a whirlwind few weeks of trying to get my bearings while advocating for myself with insurance, telling loved ones, supporting my children, giving and getting immense support with my husband, countless tears, organizing my life for the foreseeable future and preparing for a partial lung removal. My literal biggest fears coming true right in front of me. I had 25% of my right lung removed. Then on January 21, hearing “you’re cancer free”.
I have experienced every single stage of grief, some of them over and over. I have felt strength and love and support and anger and confusion and gratitude and sadness and relief and happiness and pain and vulnerability and every other emotion imaginable in what feels like a time warp and forever all at once. I wanted to capture the rawness of every emotion I’ve felt and also give myself some empowerment by documenting this stage of my life in images that I can reflect on for now and the future.
I never pictured myself, at 37, here. But I’m here nonetheless. On the other side of this while still processing the beginning of this.

**I would also like to add if anyone who sees this is a survivor in any capacity to please reach out if you would like to document your story. I would be honored to *gift* you a session to document your story in images.

When all of life’s trials and tribulations lead you to right where you’re supposed to be. With the one who loves you the way you should be loved and all becomes right with your world. I am beyond ecstatic for this bride, and the other matriarchs of this family who has and always will hold a very most dear spot in my heart.
