Patina is nothing without a story. Unsurprisingly, this 250 Europa GT has a great one. An Italian first owner who owned Italian distribution for prestige luxury brands including Connolly leather and was purchasing a brand new Ferrari every year for a decade plus span. A second German-immigrant owner in California who was an aircraft engineer and collector with varied automotive taste. And finally, a more than 60 year slumber within his private collection until the cars were uncovered upon his death in 2020.

Passo Corto - “short wheelbase”

This was the car I beelined toward when I first arrived at Ferrari Racing Days at Circuit of the Americas. I could have spent hours walking around this 250 GT Berlinetta SWB admiring the details and minutiae of both car and restoration. I’m fact, in a different setting I probably would have.

Sabotaged at the starting grid by Ferrari themselves??

Funny bit of history on this 1956 Ferrari 410 Sport Spyder sn 0596CM - it was supposed to race in the ‘56 Mille Miglia but didn’t run due to mechanical issues. The driver claims that the Ferrari factory teams sabotaged the car to reduce competition for their factory entries.

This 250 GTO, 4293GT, participated in the Le Mans centenary celebration at the Monterey Historics at Laguna Seca in 2022. Though it didn’t race, it went on track with a collection of Le Mans winners for a parade lap and photo shoot. The Le Mans Legends Heritage Display in the paddock that included 4293GT was one for the record books.
