Lanai, HI — July 2022

At first glance Lanai might seem like the red headed step child of the Hawaiian Islands. Arid flats run from the center of the island all the the way to the west coast and the north and east sides are home to canyons that might look more appropriate in Nevada. Probably not what people typically picture when they think of Hawaii. But with much fewer people and most of the tourist activity kept to small areas on the coast, Lanai is a breath of fresh air in comparison to the relative hustle and bustle of Oahu.

Oh, and did I mention that you can hunt there 365 days a year?

🚨Life Update…🚨

I moved to Hawaii!

With the last month or so being a whirlwind of change I have been behind on the posting game. But to kick it back off I want to say thank you to and for giving me an opportunity to come out to and join the wonderful team pictured above and making sure I never go home without leftovers.

I’m excited to be focusing more on content creation and you’ll be seeing more from me moving forward.

Exploring small creeks can be a fickle pastime. It tends to be a boom or bust business and it just so happens that and I experienced the former.

We each landed double digit fish and ran into three species along the way. Sometimes taking that risk and checking out that new water is well worth it!

Thankful for these little guys for giving me a reason to bring out the macro lens! 🐦🪶

What I learned from a couple days watching these hummingbirds on and deck:

1. They can put food away like no other
2. They do not like to share

This group of hummingbirds would go through the entire feeders worth of sugar water in one day. They must be burning some serious calories to keep up that pace.
