I always had a love for art—in all its forms. But photography was hardly a word in my vocabulary. As I got older, it seemed the harder I worked, the further I felt myself drifting from my purpose. One day felt this overwhelming desire to pursue photography. I couldn’t shake it. So I bought a camera and jumped into this arena that was daunting and foreign. But I fell in love with it immediately. I

believe I was re-routed to where I’m meant to be. Growing up in the military, I already had an appreciation for our veterans. So it’s no surprise they are the cornerstone of my business…it’s where my passion rests. It’s not just the art of taking pictures that makes me love what I do—it’s the interactions with all the wonderful people I’ve crossed paths with in the process. It’s their unique stories and diverse perspectives. It’s their willingness to let me into their lives, even if for just a moment, and let down their walls. Little did I know I’d be letting down some of my own. To sit before another soul and become vulnerable is both humbling and empowering. Exchanging little pieces of ourselves with each other is what makes this so powerful. And that’s what I aim for—to empower others and help unveil the parts of them that the world doesn’t get to see. It’s not about glamorizing a story or an image. It’s all about the raw, unfiltered truth. It’s about being uncomfortable. There are many unknowns out there. But the one thing I’ve learned is that when we take that first step in faith, God meets us where we are. He opens doors and places people in our lives, and it’s up to us to live intentionally. There is a greater purpose in all things that we often cannot see. Now that you know the most important part, here’s a goody box of random tidbits. I’m obsessed with candles, orchids, and chapstick. I admittedly have an unhealthy addiction to White Mochas. I don’t believe in coincidence. Dark, stormy days make me feel inspired and get the creative juices flowing. If I had an emergency kit, it would contain beef jerky, Twizzler bites, and red wine. Oh, and I guess some band-aids and such, too. ;)

But enough about me–let’s hear about you! Just shoot me a message, text, or call and let's chat! Live with abandon,
Rachel

Catie + Bronson,

Congratulations!

Thank you for letting me be present on this special day. I'm so happy for you. My favorite thing about these photos is the joy I see on your faces...the way you both look at each other. It says everything.

Bronson--I'll always see you as my brother who I played video games with and loved riding bikes with in the woods. But I also see you as an incredible man who is in his own league. You deserve nothing but the very best.

Catie--Welcome to the family! I look forward to creating memories with you. Thank you for loving and supporting my brother the way you do.

It's happening! I love you.

All photos connected to a business are an extension of that brand and its image. Sales can be driven up, and it's largely due to the representation. It's also about being real--showing the "everyday" woman (or man) in the images. Aren't we all everyday women and men at the end of the day? That's why I suggested we do something a little different...like taking her shoes off and being relaxed in a hoodie. Or genuinely laughing and not forcing a smile because she's supposed to. This is what it looks like after getting home from the gym...feeling accomplished, bare feet supporting a tired yet energized body, hair isn't perfect. But that's pretty dang perfect to me. :)

You know the kind of love you can feel when you just see a couple? As you simply watch them interacting? That's exactly what it is with these two. When I shot them last year, it was the same way. But this time around, it was even deeper.

You two are so fun and carefree with each other. Kalina, I see the way you adore Dylan and can't get enough of him. And Dylan, I see the way you cherish Kalina and look out for her.

Thank you for letting me photograph you, and your love, once again.

Christopher,

Alive Day : 5 years

It's been 5 years since that day shook your life up and catapulted you in a new direction. We're all grateful to know you and have you in our lives. I know you'll have the same impact on those who are yet to enter your life.

You are blessed. You are titanium.

Thank you for sharing your story with me, and allowing me to pass it on as encouragement for others.

Survivor
It happened so fast and it’s hard to remember
I think I’m blind but it’s just dirt covering my glasses
I was helping someone, doing my job
Now I was in need of rescuing
My arm isn’t working but still I try
And little did I know
The heat had warped my gun
But I made it…
I carry my comrades daily."

Flashback to that drive into Colorado Springs from Dallas to shoot the PX3 Patriots game. I've never seen distinct sections of rain like that just pouring from the clouds. It was gorgeous.

The official blog post from the Colorado Springs PX3 event is up! Please feel free to pull, save, and share images. :)

The PX3 Patriots All Veteran Celebrity Softball Team took the field with the Danny Dietz Frogmen Celebrity Team On August 20, 2016, at Sky Sox Stadium in Colorado Springs. This was the second game in our National Series. At first, I was going to talk about the details behind every event; every photo. But then I sat still…

I was going to focus on the details of these individuals. But as I was sitting at my desk editing these images, it really hit me : there’s more to this event than these photos. It’s the moments the public can’t see–the candid moments that weren’t recorded. It’s the intimate conversations and heart-to-hearts around a table in the hotel lobby at 12AM, picking at calamari and Jerk chicken. It’s the one-on-one exchanges at the shooting range about life, depth, and purpose. It’s the culmination of these moments that make up the entire weekend. It is so much more than a photo-op or publicity. What this comes down to is who we are–it’s our accomplishments and what we’ve conquered. But it is also who we are behind the titles. Whether we’re veterans, former athletes, actors, stay-at-home moms, or entrepreneurs…we were all leveled on August 20th. I hope you can sit in silence and feel you took something away from the weekend beyond an awesome softball game and playful rivaly. It is my hope that you can say you made a deeper connection with at least one individual from a different walk of life…that you observed something new. Something meaningful.

Every artist has their own perspective and a unique approach when it comes to their craft. For me, it’s all about the bigger picture. An aerial perspective. As Dave Bray sang the National Anthem, I lowered my camera. I listened to the words, and I scanned. I observed the field and I saw each of you. I saw your uniqueness as individuals. I saw what you value and I saw what captures your attention. I recognized who you looked at, and how you saw them. I wanted to see people from your perspectives, alongside my own. I hope that is felt as you go through these images. A side-by-side of lives…a different way of viewing the same situation…all from various angles. It was a genuine pleasure to get to know you, and to witness you.

As American Airlines Sky Ball XIV approaches, in support of the Airpower Foundation, Bobby Hawk and friends from Hogbirds Aviation brought their helicopters to the Hangar to look at locations for them to be on static display during Sky Ball. They treated several of the mechanics, who work at the Hangar, to rides around the airport, and over the south side of DFW. As Bob Vincent said, a massive thank you to Bobby and Hogbirds Aviation, and to the men and women of Hangar #5 who make Sky Ball possible with their facility, and all the work they do to close it for a week to support the event! Bob and I were also fortunate enough to take a ride in the Huey...such an awesome afternoon!

You stood beside each other during the unfolding of your love story, despite multiple deployments and distance–something many would view as a reason to give up. But you made it through the storm, and now you have the rest of your lives to stand beside one another as husband and wife.
