Parking before we walked the beach recently, I noticed what might be viewed as a deconstructed palm tree, on the rear windshield of the car next to us. Which led me to thinking about living in southern California, which means living with palm trees in some form, just about everywhere, -- and just about all of them non-native. The day after Thanksgiving at La Jolla Shores --yet more to give thanks for. The beach offered something for everyone on a windy morning. For me it was the ocean in decorator mode. And all of it soon to be washed away, as ephemeral and magical as ever.
