Today I was able to do one of the things I like most about providing art. I was privileged to hang this 112" x 56" Triptych of "Take the Second" in Todd and Julie's home. To respect their privacy, I won't show you the rest of the home but trust me, they have done a phenomenal job at evolving this newly developed house into an impressive and resort like home retaining a very comfortable and inviting feel. From the decorations, inside and out, to the amazing back yard they have made so many good decisions. So yes, I was honored that they chose one of my pieces to "make a statement" without being overbearing, in their living room. The 9 foot 4 inch wide piece definitely makes a statement, yet it isn't so attention demanding that it will dominate the rooms feeling. It makes a statement while augmenting the feel they've already worked to establish. They did a great job in selecting this piece and can't wait to show their friends. Thank you Todd and Julie for inviting me in to help with your ambiance.

The Colorado River, first in Moab, UT, and second near the Imperial Dam just North of Yuma, AZ. I know it's not rocket science but it always hits me that this water travels so far.

PIVOT: When you plan to spend a month in Mammoth Lakes, photographing fall colors, but the Creek Fire changes everything what do you do. Road trip! Twin Falls ID, Sawtooth NF ID, Grand Targhee WY, East of Park City and Moab UT for some mountain biking. Okay, not the full photo trip I had planned, but so much fun and sans smoke. Here are some photos mostly from Utah where they think it's fall ... oh, it is! Oh and one of Shorty who definitely was the star of this pivot to fun trip.

I'm thrilled to have two pieces of art included in the Regional Invitational exhibit at The Studio Door in Hillcrest http://thestudiodoor.com/inside/?page_id=10828 Showing are two impressionistic captures, one of a powerful waterfall crashing through bushes and over rocks, and the other of a stand of trees while on a hike. The exhibition is open Tue-Sat noon to 7PM.

Okay, not a great cell phone pic, but you get the idea. Eric and Rachel needed to add some life to this hallway to their guest suite. Three "Spirit of the Waves" images set the mood and tone. Oh, did I mention their guest room has a stunning view of the ocean? Hung with a laser level these are perfectly arranged and really make an impact as your round the corner to your room.

What a treat it was to tour Lower Antelope Canyon. The water carved slot, sometimes eighty feet deep, has such a natural flow and the scenes are endless. The tours keep you moving so you have to capture quickly. Most of the time the camera captures the colors a little different than they appear to the eye. The purples show up a little more "purple" than they do in real life. But I left them this way for intrigue. This is a snippet, a subview of a larger wall that caught my eye. Waves? Clouds? it could be many things but I loved the texture and the gradation of color.
