This has saved me from so many struggles. As most of you know I teach credit recovery high school. And every day these kids teach me something. They show me what I take for granted and change my view on things I thought were truth. They can only do this if I take the time to listen, really listen. I ask lots of questions, *almost* to annoyance. I did not do this the first time I tried this profession. I only lasted three years before taking a 13 year break. I did not ask questions and I did not think I needed to learn. Motherhood has humbled me. So I bring on the curiosity and it has given me days full of pride in these kids. Teaching fills me. Teaching photography is just icing on the cake!

One of my favorite weeks! I get to photograph senior cap and gown portraits and spend a little time making these seniors feel accomplished and absolutely beautiful. It’s a joy to help them see their worth!!

And btw, I have always struggled a bit with my auxiliary lighting (aka flash studio). But just like any profession, do it enough times and one day it will click (no pun intended). I am so proud of the work I was able to produce!! Here is me high fiving myself…🙏🏼

These two have so much to celebrate! Congratulations to the happy couple! 🥂

I have always enjoyed being part of smaller weddings. They are a treat. Courthouse wedding? I’m there. Just need a few hours. I’m game. My wedding (17 years ago) was not small at all. It’s so hard when you feel like you want to include all of those who have loved you along the way. But keeping it small makes for true meaning and gratitude for those who get to be part of it. Thank you to these two for including me.

is a community theater in Solana Beach who is spearheaded by a wonderfully giving woman named Jojo. She puts her heart and soul into these kids and their families. Today while I was photographing my eighth show, I was greeted by a window covering made up of all the photos I have taken since 2020. It’s overwhelming to see a collection of my work in full color and on display. I am honored to be part of this wholesome production company!! Go see their shows! Bring your kids and watch them fall in love with the theater while discovering who they are and how they can contribute to this world. It’s wonderful to see, every time!

Well this is a treat! I got to photograph this spark plug and boy did the camera love her! I have not entertained studio work since the pandemic so it took me a while to get the set-up down. But once we got going it was so hard to stop. I can’t wait to do this again!
